New Hampshire adds manufacturing jobs, but trend may be short-lived

Manufacturing jobs are rebounding in New Hampshire, at least in the short term, but the Granite State remains well short of the more than 77,000 such jobs it produced prior to the onset of the 2008 recession.

Even so, economists remain hopeful about the manufacturing industry in New Hampshire. The top two manufacturing sectors are computer and electronic products, followed by fabricated metal products, according to 2014 data from the National Manufacturers Association. | Keep Reading at NH Watchdog

Americans for Prosperity: NH should dump energy-efficiency efforts

A new report from Americans for Prosperity calls for scrapping New Hampshire’s renewable portfolio standards, or expanding them to include nuclear power and low-carbon coal, cutting or eliminating energy-efficiency programs and building the Northern Pass.

Regionalization in Belknap County – a bad idea

A while ago, we heard that the Belknap County Sheriff’s office was begging additional monies from the towns that it was serving for dispatch services.

Data Doesn’t Support Need for Seat Belts on School Buses

Don’t expect school bus passengers in New Hampshire to be required to buckle up anytime soon.

Legalizing Marijuana is Wrong for NH

Currently, the New Hampshire Legislature is considering HB 656-FN-A-LOCAL. This bill proposes to legalize and regulate the personal use of marijuana by persons 21 years or older. It also calls for retail sales and state the generation of revenue through taxation. On October 12, a five-person subcommittee voted three to two in favor and sent the bill back to the 21-member full committee. The House Criminal Justice Committee will be deciding on the merits of this bill at a hearing, scheduled for November 14, that will be held in Concord. | Keep Reading at the Laconia Daily Sun
