Report That Declares Huge “Rise” in Hate Crimes in NH Leaves A lot of Details Out.

New Hampshire Public Radio reported a surge in the number of hate crimes in New Hampshire for 2016. In sounding the alarm, they quote lower figures for previous years and link to a statement by the Anti-Defamation League not just decrying the rise but insisting that hate crimes are still under-reported.

Sadly, no one takes time to point out that the rise is probably a result of expanding what can be reported as a hate crime and what constitutes a single incident for reporting purposes. The Seacoast Republican Women will host their Annual Holiday Luncheon on Friday, December 8th from 11:30 am – 2:00 pm at the Portsmouth Country Club, 80 Country Club Road, Greenland.  The special guest speaker will be Tiffany Eddy, CEO of Tiffany & Associates, specializing in strategic communications, media relations, and professional development.  Her background covers over fourteen years of experience in New Hampshire media including WMUR News 9 Tonight anchor, over a decade of hosting the magazine program New Hampshire Chronicle, many celebrity interviews and local individuals as well as businesses.  She covered the prosecution of war criminals in Rwanda’s post-genocide era, received the Edward R. Murrow Award, a three-time Emmy nominee and received many Granite Micawards from the New Hampshire Association of Broadcasters.  She was also active in her community with many charitable events, served on the boards of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate), theGranite State Children’s Alliance and the New Hampshire High Tech Council.

Study: NH Rural areas in affordable housing crunch

Many rural places, especially those desired by second-home owners and retirees, are challenged to provide affordable and adequate housing for local working families, according to new research released by the Carsey School of Public Policy at the University of New Hampshire.

“Though vacant housing is plentiful in rural areas – in New England 29 percent of rural housing units are vacant – it is not necessarily available,” the researchers said. “Three-quarters of New England’s rural vacant housing units are designated for seasonal, recreational or occasional use, while just 3.5 percent are available for rent.” | Read More at NHBR

Sorry, but Sandy Hook parents have no right to sue gun manufacturers

Remington is the parent company of Bushmaster Firearms which made the semi-automatic rifle that Adam Lanza used to kill school-children AFTER he murdered his mother to gain access to her guns. The parents sued Remington previously but PLCAA (Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act) denied their suit.  The parents’ money-grubbing ambulance-chasing lawyer, however, thinks he can spend their money to gain fame for himself with a “cutesie” line of attack. |Read More at GraniteGrok.com
