How About Them Nazis?

Given how touchy the New Hampshire Democrat Party (NHDP) leadership is about comments relating to Jews and Nazis I wanted to wait a few days before addressing the words of Tennessee House Democrat Steve Cohen to see if they had something to say.  Cohen made a few, lets call them ‘off-hand remarks,’ about Nazi propaganda ministers, Republicans and Nazi tactics.  He then did it again with spin.  And again. And..Zzzz…

I guess the new left wing civility is not much different from the old, nor is the NHDP’s selective silence on comments they deemed uncivil from a Republican but just ignore coming from one of their own.

Selective hate?Or is their some handy excuse for Cohen’s remarks?

“This is what happens when the electorate plucks a hate-monger like Alan Grayson from well of the House. It leaves an angry rhetorical void which the evolutionary process of secular-humanist, left wing “civility” must adapt to fill with vulgar comments by representatives from Tennessee.”

No?

“Cohen was taken out of context, besides he has no history of uncivil rhetoric.”

According to Hot Air Cohen was calling Republicans and TEA Party folks Klansman with fashion sense less than a year ago, ignoring his own parties Klan ties sans fashion sense. (Thread count wasn’t such a big deal before Martha Stewart.)

Or maybe it really it because Cohen is a democrat and they agree with him?

That would explain the silence from the bluest parts of downtown Concord.  Cohen is just being Cohen and that civility stuff Obama was spewing at the less than somber Rah-rah requiem in Arizona… that wasn’t meant for democrats except perhaps to reload the rhetorical 60-cal for the next time they need to line up the cross-hairs on some right winger who uses the words ‘reload,’ or ‘cross-hair,’ or even Nazi in the wrong context.

Mark Fernald as “Hugh Jihass”

Does Democrat Mark Fernald do the letters to the editor follow up over at Fosters Daily Democrat or is he just complicit?  Amidst a series of letters posted on January 14th at Fosters.com is a smarmy bit of left wing drool authored by one Hugh Jidette.  Fernald liked the letter so much that he shared it on his email distribution list saying…

Forget what the right wing has been up to, what has Fosters and Mark Fernald been up to?

Hugh Jidette is a false name.  Huge Jidette (Huge Debt) appears as a fake Presidential Candidate to deliver awareness ads about out of control spending and the risks of borrowing on the scale the democrats embraced.  Hugh was all about borrowing money.  But Some on the left spun that and sold it to their peeps as proof that the Republicans were lying about taxes and using the campaign to justify slashing the deficit to punish hard working civil servants.  That exact same theme has found its way here in the letter published in Fosters, by a Hugh Jidette from Rochester, but with a local spin. The national left wing meme viewed through a granite state filter.

But we have no way of knowing if it was written by Fernald himself, Kathy Sullivan, Ray Buckley, The Center for American Progress, ‘Norris Cotton’ over at Red Hampshire, or by Fosters Editorial Staff.

One thing we do know is that the person vetting letters over at Fosters should change their name to Hugh Jihass, and that by forwarding it as if it were written by an actual local resident, Fernald looks like a Hugh Jihass as well.

Nashua Telegraph Snubs GOP Committee Meeting

The Nashua Telegraph’s progressive tendencies are frequently on display but never more so than in this mornings Sunday print edition.  There is not one mention of the Republican State Committee meeting that went on for five hours, nor the election of any officers including the new Chairman Jack Kimball.

News 9 was there.  CNN was interested.  The UK Telegraph and a host of nationals were watching, claiming that this could be a bellwether for the strength of TEA party influence in the whole of the United States.  You’d think that might be newsworthy?

But over at the Nashua Telegraph there is no print story, no news digest blurb, even Kevin Landrigan’s weekly round up which consumes many column inches of valuable newsprint real-estate makes no hint that every major Republican office holder was in Derry yesterday or that an impressive 426 party electors showed up to make their preferences known.

So what, 2:50 pm in the afternoon is past the print deadline?

This is blatant, but hardly surprising.  The Nashua Telegraph is New Hampshire’s progressive paper of record. And it drools its left leaning preferences over a half-dozen or more local town papers through the Cabinet press.  It regularly publishes policy screeds on democrat agenda items from left wing PAC and Policy leaders as ‘editorials,’ and it is more than entitled to do so.  They could print Marx and Engels if they wanted to.  But it would go a long way towards demonstrating some effort at impartial reporting if they could be bothered to mention the GOP Committee Meeting even happened.

Of course I am not completely convinced it is not in there somewhere. I confess that I did not check the classifieds.  But then, why should I have to?  And that’s the point.

Note: It’s not mentioned anywhere on the front page at nashuatelegraph.com either.

NHRVC Endorses Jack Thorsen For GOP Area 2 Vice Chair

As you may have heard, NHRVC endorsed candidate for Area 2 Vice Chair, Chris Buck has decided to drop out of the race.
Jack Thorsen, who entered this race several weeks after we endorsed Chris, is now NHRVC’s endorsed candidate for this position. As most of you already know, Jack is a solid conservative and a hard working activist who has been a longtime member of our group.
And you have to respect the fact that he’s been doing this for years in the Democrat controlled Portsmouth area, so he obviously has a strong commitment to conservatism and is not afraid to take on tough challenges.

Is This The Worst Bagel Ever?

Making things taste like crap on purpose in not something the free market traditionally rewards unless it is popular-trendy “tastes like crap,” in which case all the finest people are buying it which encourages lesser mortals seeking aimlessly for some kind of identity to follow suit in the hope that they will become “better people” by association.

Loser 2: “Hey look, Chantelle puts blow-fish droppings on here arugula.”  Loser 3: “Wow, she is so hip.”

Into this confused world comes the Weight Watchers Basic Bagel, which I purchased not because I or anyone in my family is watching their weight, but because they were on sale.  How was I to know what would happen next?

When chicken is on sale is it because the expiration date is fast approaching.  Same with dairy, and a host of other grocery products, but having teenage boys is like having Zombies—all food is brains and they are always lurking about looking for prey so nothing stays around long enough to go bad unless it is bad already.  These bagels did not appear to be nearing their expiration date which failed to set off warning bells.  They are bagels.  How do you screw up bagels?  I have discovered the answer.  Weight Watchers basic bagel.  A bagel that no amount of toasting or spreads can fix.  A Bagel my teenage boys will not eat.

It’s not “I just puked a little bit in my mouth bad,” and it certainly isn’t Tom Hanks in the Movie Big, palming Beluga caviar off his tongue, but there was definitely something wrong as if it were missing a critical chromosome or molecule.

I’d liken it to the look on Gena Davis’ face as the character Veronica Quaife in the 1986 remake of The Fly.  She and Jeff Goldblum (Seth Brundle) have just tested his magnificent teleportation device on a steak.  This is after he has lured her with the word “cheeseburger” and then subsequently discovered that quirky scientists can use teleportation devices to get girls—which is only slightly harder than learning to do origami with little white cocktail napkins to get girls–but before he teaches his invention about flesh thanks to an intimate encounter with the girl ‘gotten’ by the quirky scientists teleportation device which (unfortunately for Seth) eventually turns him into Brundle-fly.

(Another morality play about scientists violating the laws of the universe for fun and profit. If someone had told him about global warming he’d be running NASA right now.)

He has cooked the steak, she has taken a bite, and squirreled up her face while simultaneously looking for a place to spit it back out.

What’s the problem?

“It’s just wrong.”

That is the best way to describe the flavor of the Weight Watchers basic bagel.  It is not really bad, It is just wrong.

So consider yourself warned.  These things are neither a bargain nor a pleasure, and if I may abuse one more movie quote in closing, in regard to these heinous things—this one from the original Crocodile Dundee movie, “well, you can live on it but it tastes like sh*t.”

Of course the people at Weight Watchers may have convinced people to buy something they can’t stomach.  They get paid, you will lose weight.  So maybe I am just being picky and these bastards are bloody brilliant.

Is Leadership Opposing The Recall Bill? (HB 73)

Seal of the US SenateSources in the State House have suggested to me that Dan Itse’s HB 73, ‘An Act establishing a process for recall of US Senators from New Hampshire, may be opposed by the Republican House leadership.

This information comes quickly after an article in the Union Leader yesterday in which the usual suspects on the left assumed that the bill was meant as an attack on Jeanne Shaheen.  That thinking stems from the root of evil that is in side the Lefts party leadership.  If the democrats had proposed it, it would be to unseat a Republican Senator so they naturally assume that this is the intention.

Sorry.  We really do not think that way.

I am not Senator Shaheen’s biggest fan, but I agree with Dan Itse whose response to that was no.  It is not to unseat anyone. Six years is simply too long for any elected representative to be in office without any real sense of accountability and US senators, be they Shaheen, Gregg, Ayotte, or whomever, have far too much time to exercise far too much power without any regard for its actual relevance or effect on the state they are meant to represent in that body.  The history of the Senate since the institution of direct election is one of corruption, self enrichment, and political fiefdoms.

HB 73 Would put the fear of “State” back into the thought process of a job holder who was never meant to be elected directly.

Only the US house was meant to be the peoples elected house.  The Senate was the appointed chamber, picked by the state legislators who were themselves elected by the people.  And being appointed, Senators were well aware that should they vote outside the interest of their state they could be recalled for discipline or even be replaced.  That kind of accountability is rare in politics and desperately needed.  And it was a critical mechanism to our Republic that was destroyed by the 17th amendment.

Mr. Itse is merely attempting to return that check and balance to New Hampshire.  A check that on a national scale would have prevented the passage of trillions in spending and entitlement programs, reams of bureaucratic red tape, and even stopped the nightmare known as Obamacare.

So why might leadership oppose the measure, if that is in fact the case?  I suspect it is a matter of priorities.  The goal in the first session is to deal with  the budget, spending, reducing the State deficit, and removing the bureaucratic boot off our necks placed there by four years of democrat rule.  Most other concerns, even legitimate ones, that do not fit that list of priorities, will have to wait until we can see our way through the foggy fiscal mess that the new majority has inherited from the math challenged New Hampshire democrat party.

So while I support the need to hold our US Senators accountable, I’d be just as happy to see this bill in the next session.

But between then and now, I would recommend a media campaign to explain the merit of HB 73 and why it is good for New Hampshire to put a wedge between our Senators and displaced national party priorities or deep pocketed lobbyists.  With that seed sowed, a vote in the state legislature in 2012 on a recall measure would be less of a cudgel to be used on republicans that support it, and more like a warm handshake introducing the people of the Granite State to their new-found control over an seemingly unaccountable national body.

Pam Manney For NH GOP Assistant Secretary

Pamela ManneyI would like to give a personal endorsement for Assistant Secretary for the New Hampshire Republican Party to Pamela Manney.  Ive known Pam for several years now, and worked along side her as an activist.  She has a level of commitment and dedication to the party and the platform that make her an exceptional asset.

Pam is a two term state rep, a town committee chair, and the current corresponding secretary for the Hillsborough County GOP committee.  I’ve been at sign waves with Pam, debated policy on line and in person, worked to with her to help get principled conservatives elected all over the state, and even spoken at her town committee meeting.  I can think of no one I know more qualified for the position.

So please take a moment this Saturday, January 22nd to cast a vote for Pamela Manney for Assistant Secretary.

NH Jo-Whore-nal?

As a follow up to this, yesterday or maybe the day before, the NH Journal (NHJ), New Hampshire’s prominent internet news source if the news is whatever Hynse communications is being paid to call news, decided to float a lie called pin the conservative blogger to Jack Kimball.  Someone the NH Journal staff knew would stir the pot was fingered as Kimball’s communications director if he won the job as GOP State party chairman, even though no one–including Kimball and the blogger–knew anything about it until after the digital ink was dry.

The goal for Hynse and Millerick, (owner and editor respectively at NHJ)  appear to have been to send the RINO’s into a mad stampede.  RINO’s stampede easy so it worked.  Some RINO’s were so miffed, and wanting so badly for just such a story to jump on, they picked up the lie and ran with it. (Just like a progressive if that’s not to provocative a statement to make.)

There was a bit of damage control but once it’s out there, it is out there, no different than when CNN or MSNBC does it.  But the story did not end there.

Today, we found more dirty work, this time on Facebook, where someone (who is as likely to be connected to Hynse as anyone) put up an ad on facebook to give the impression that Bill Binnie–wealthy moderate and former candidate for the US Senate–was part of the Kimball circle.  That part is true enough in the proper context.  Binnie can raise money and Jack picked him for that reason, but the ad was meant to connect them in ways that would piss off the libertarians and tie it back to GraniteGrok.com the ads so-called ‘sponsor.’   The problem was that GraniteGrok did not sponsor the ad, and knew nothing about it until someone happened upon it and sent an email.

What ties these stories together is that the lie about the blogger pegged for Kimball’s communications director, is the blogger who owns  and runs GraniteGrok.

That’s just too convenient to be a coincidence.

So this looks like a daisy chain of planned fingers in the eye,  rolled out in the days before the vote (this Saturday) to peel enough voting members away from Kimball on both sides of his support base, to ensure his opponent Juliana Beregeron, the anointed GOP insider and favorite daughter of the party elites, will win.

Will she win?  Too close to call.  Would she be a good chairman?  I think she would, but she’s a bit old school and I think we need some fresh blood.  If she does win she’ll get the same support or haranguing from me as Jack would because I’m not picky about pointing out when I think someone screwed up.  But given her support base, connected Republican insiders and first families of the Granite State, whoever is buying up rumors at NHJ has it out for the Grok, which does not tolerate RINO’s or moderate republicans lightly.

Having said all that, let us now consider this.

What the hell is wrong with Bergeron?  Why is it necessary for her republican supporters to act like progressives and trash her opponent days before the vote?    We should all ask that.  And we should ask who paid Pat Hynse to use NH Journal to spread lies for the Bergeron cause?  Unless he did it for free?

In either case, you should make a mental note the next time you read something (or worse link to something) by one of  NH Journals (or should I say NH Jo-Whore-nals) bi-partisan editors or contributors.  It could be news, it could be opinion, or it might be a calculated hit piece with no basis in truth whatsoever.  How exactly are you meant to know the difference?  You are not.  That’s the point.  You are just a mule with an ass full of cocaine.  If you go down they’ll just find some other sucker to carry the lies for them.

There are plenty of suckers.  Maybe you should consider not being one of them.

It’s A Shameless Capitalist Endorsement!

Adros EnergyI have invested some time and (renewable) energy arguing against federal subsidies and hand outs to prop up businesses that make environmentalists and their democrat sugar daddies happy.  My primary objective with “green” energy projects has not been the business itself or even the goal, but the way in which the state and federal government uses our money to pick winners and losers or to incentivise things.

So it only seems fair to point out when someone is trying to advance alternative energy the right way.   I recently met the guys who run Adros Energy in Amherst New Hampshire.  Theirs is a veteran owned company that does home energy audits, and specializes in hybridizing or combining clean energy systems like solar, thermal and wind together to free people from the control of government regulations over energy and what usually amounts to some kind of monopoly on power and pricing by one or few providers.

The words independence and freedom got me where I live.  We’re not talking about freedom from a dependence on foreign supplies but of domestic ones.  Your heat and electricity are produced here, almost exclusively with local resources.  And have noticed?  The government is hell bent on using that industry to control your behavior and launder your money into the coffers of the government.

So what can Adros do?  Energy Audits.  They tell me it’s their most popular service because they can do a basement to attic evaluation–your entire home–and give you a list of recommended changes that could save you 30-50% on your annual heating and cooling costs, every year, and they guarantee it.

Veteran owned, local, and off the federal hand out grid?  They want to show you how to invest in your home to save more of your money not how to screw other taxpayers out of theirs?  And if you are interested, and have the resources, they will even show you options to make your own home energy independent from the local utilities and the rising prices and taxes we all face.

So don’t say I never supported local business, thoughtful conservation measures, or clean energy, and look, all at the same time.

There are folks out there trying to do it the right way.  You just have to look for them.
