2017 The Great 2017 Statuary War

The war currently being waged against Confederate monuments seemingly came from nowhere, but it’s quickly becoming a fierce and brutal conflict. That was made clear when those self-appointed champions of justice triumphantly toppled the statue of a Confederate soldier in Durham and then, in an orgy of hate, took turns kicking and spitting on the vanquished hunk of metal.

Rational people are finding it hard to understand this collective statuary revulsion. | more…

New Bill Would Imprison Healthcare Workers For Using Incorrect Pronouns With Patients

… a new bill penned by Senator Scott Wiener of San Francisco, dubbed the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Long-Term Care Facility Resident’s Bill of Rights (or SB-219 if you’re into the whole brevity thing), takes wacky California legislation to a whole new level.  Among other things, the bill makes it illegal for employees of any “long-term care facility” to “willfully and repeatedly fail to use a resident’s preferred name or pronouns after being clearly informed of the preferred name or pronouns.” | More…

Virtue and the Moral Fall of Civilization

Civilizations fall rapidly due to an inescapable catastrophe. Water sources dry up. A powerful empire invades.

Civilizations fall slowly due to a moral catastrophe. A moral catastrophe is not a failure of arms or food. It’s a failure of the sustaining virtues of the civilization. As the society tumbles slowly downward, it will encounter defeat in battle, collapse of its infrastructure and food shortages. But these are symptoms, not causes. The cause is the degeneration of the society and its people.

A civilization is not a mechanical endeavor, but a moral one. The virtues that uphold a civilization, the ability to reason, to work hard, to study how to solve a problem, to sacrifice now for future gain, to cooperate with those outside the tribe, to value truth, beauty and goodness for their own sake are individual, but they are also social. | More…

Adhocracy, Why the Progressives are against Free Speech

Remember when the Democrats unanimously voted to repeal the First Amendment back in 2014? Remember when Hillary wanted to curtail free speech when it pertains to politicians? And how about all those times over the past several years when Progressives and leftists called for silencing “hate speech” where hate speech is anything they don’t like? Remember all of those? You should at least remember the one because the latest example was just last week in Boston. | More…

Social Justice Activists Treat Each Other Like Crap

Some SJW’s express discomfort at being pigeonholed by the social justice activist community into the sub-species of social justice pigeon hole into which they allowed themselves (if we’re honest) to be stuffed.

Put another way, people who thought that “coming out” as this or that class of victim would make them a unique part of a larger community are finding that not to be the case.

One transgender activist, Bri, said that she felt tokenized by her peers, discouraged that she’s only called upon to speak when people “need a trans person’s voice for whatever.”

Instead of inclusive excellence, you get excluded indifference until they need a few words from the nearest fat-trans (or is that trans-fat) communitarian. Not that you could ever possibly speak for all dietetically disabled gender dysphorics. That’s absurd. Nor can you possibly speak for large men who became large “women” just to “use” the changing room at Target. |More…

Police in New Hampshire say a man upset over not being hired at a gas station tried to run over managers with his car.

Conservatives of color frustrated by ‘white supremacist’ label after Charlottesville

You don’t have to be white to be accused of being a white supremacist, as some of those caught up in the rush to denounce racists and fascists in the wake of Charlottesville can attest.

Take Shiva Ayyadurai and Daniel Alejandro Medina. Neither is white, but both were featured speakers at Saturday’s small free speech rally in Boston, which drew an estimated 15,000 protesters determined to counter what had been widely billed by foes as a white supremacist gathering.

That’s not what video clips show. At one point Mr. Ayyadurai, a candidate for the 2018 Republican Senate nomination in Massachusetts, declared that “black lives matter” as his supporters held up signs with the messages “Black Lives Do Matter” and “No to GMO’s: Stop Monsanto.” |More…

Family wants local district to pay for private school tuition

I think they should ask Colin Kaepernick to pay for it.

The State Board of Education has sent an appeal from a Boscawen family seeking a private school tuition reimbursement from their local school district back to the state Department of Education, in hopes that the two sides can keep negotiating.

The case concerns Samuel Alicea, the former Merrimack Valley High School student who made headlines last year when he took a knee during the national anthem at a football game to protest police brutality and racial injustice. *| More…

Is Keene NH Resident Chris Cantwell a Fed?

“Is he or isn’t he? That’s the question people are finally asking out in the open. At least out in the open enough for me to finally heard of it. Is (Keene, NH Resident) Chris Cantwell a Federal Agent Provocateur?”

You’re invited to join the Libertarian Party of NH and Free Talk Live from this year’s NH Cannabis Freedom Festival at Rogers Campground.
