I’m Not Suicidal, I Just forgot to Brush My Hair
I remember meeting a suicide prevention call center volunteer. She was a wreck, thin and pale. Vicarious suffering was taking such a toll on her that friends and family were pushing her to back off for a while to recover. Understanding self-care and vicarious suffering is really important when working with vulnerable populations. I recall listening to a psychiatrist talk about how to tell if someone is suicidal and he said, “They don’t comb their hair.” He meant that they don’t practice any self-care. More…

Kyle Tasker gets 3-10 years in drug, sex case
BRENTWOOD (AP) — A former New Hampshire lawmaker has been sentenced to three to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to charges of drug possession and trying to lure a 14-year-old girl over Facebook into a sexual encounter.

DOT crew sucks up handgun while cleaning North Hampton catch basin
NORTH HAMPTON – State highway workers got a big surprise when they sucked up a handgun and a holster while cleaning out a catch basin on Route 1.
