Trump takes aim at Black Lives Matter

President Trump took aim at the Black Lives Matter movement and former President Obama Monday, saying ambush-style killings of police last year during tensions in minority communities were “a stain on the very fabric of our society” and that too many Americans “obstruct” law enforcement.

“We are living through an era in which our police are subjected to unfair vilification and defamation — even worse, hostility and violence,” Mr. Trump said at a memorial ceremony at the Capitol for fallen officers. “More officers were slain last year in ambushes than in any year in more than two decades.” More…

President: UNH Will Do More on Diversity

Students at the University of New Hampshire have called for the administration to make several major changes to show its commitment to diversity and its intolerance for racism.

The students are asking that the university double its number of students and faculty of color, provide diversity training for all university employees, and change the code of conduct so that any student who promotes “racially insensitive” ideas is expelled from the institution, according to Boston.com. Currently, the student body — which is made up of about 12,000 undergraduates — is about 3 percent Latino and 1 percent black. More…

NBC Headline Rephrased: Less than 2 of 5 Americans Upset about Trump firing Comey

There is a breathless headline from an NBC Poll just out: NBC/WSJ Poll: Just 29 Percent Approve of Trump’s Firing of James Comey.

Now reading that headline you would think that 71 percent disapprove, and I’m sure that’s what NBC wants you to think, however, if you actually read the story you find out… More

Frost Witch Hunt? Dover constituents have been complaining since January

Last week was the Ethics Hearing where Frost had the chance to defend her behavior but instead chose to ‘lawyer-up’ and didn’t even apologize to the New Hampshire Citizens she publicly humiliated and marginalized.

At the hearing last week, Frost and her Democrat supporters actually tried to claim it was nothing but a ‘witch hunt’ to distract from another hearing happening for ethics violations with Republican Representative Robert Fisher. Unfortunately, the truth proves that there is no ‘witch hunt.’ People, including Frost’s own constituents and residents of Dover, have been complaining about her behavior since January when it first began. Frost’s Chilling Effect

Anyone who is not a lobbyist but has used their own time and money – and taken the time out of their work day – to testify before a NH House or Senate committee knows how scary and intimidating it can be.   So you write your testimony, try to keep it concise, print it out in a big font, make copies for the committee, take a deep breath and begin.  Whether you will get questions from committee members is an entirely different thing but you hope to convey your ideas, your concerns, and yes, even your fears, of the pending legislation at hand. Dartmouth Study Looks at How N.H. Women Legislators Cope with Work-Family Balance

With a legislature like New Hampshire’s, one would think that it would be easier for women to be elected into office and serve their local communities. A recent Dartmouth-led study has found that might not be the case.

The research states that volunteer-based state legislatures may perpetuate gender inequality in political representation. The work-family balance appeared to disproportionately affect female legislators than their male colleagues, since women often take on more family obligations for their households, which then, compete in time and priority with their legislative responsibilities.  More…

Divest Movement: Oil pipeline opponents try going after the money

Opposition to the Dakota Access oil pipeline has persuaded some banks to stop supporting projects that might harm the environment or tread on indigenous rights, but calling the divest movement a success might be a stretch. It doesn’t appear to be hurting the ability of energy companies to get financing More…
