Police: Threat to ‘shoot up’ Lebanon Middle School not credible

LEBANON — Lebanon police said the possible threat reported Friday afternoon that a male student was going to “shoot up” Lebanon Middle School with a gun proved not to be credible.

Chief Richard Mello said with the assistance of the Grantham Police Department, however, a firearm was voluntarily turned over for safekeeping out of an abundance of caution. | More…

Darlene Pawlik: They’re Play’n You

From Madoff to Enron, big name business scams and small-time snake-oil salesmen have come and gone. They were about money and power. Smaller scams are often not even considered newsworthy. Let’s not forget political scandals. Lists and pages wouldn’t cover the hand-in-the-cookie jar type of stories that have come from national and state office holders. From the White House to the State House and the Town Hall, we wonder how these people could have been elected to public office. | More…

The #VolinskyAgenda – Yogurtnomics

Volinsky is out with an op-ed about how he would grow the New Hampshire economy.

But just as the #VoliskyAgenda described in Volinsky’s tweet really involves empowering government at the expense of parents, healthcare consumers, and private business, so too Volinsky’s economic agenda is all about increasing the size and scope of government.

Once Volinsky gets past the usual “progressive” bromides about investing and innovating, he reveals that the problem New Hampshire has in attracting and retaining businesses is that we are not treating businesses like third-year law students.  Really, I am not making this up. | More

Obama Admin ‘Systematically Disbanded’ Units Investigating Iran’s Terrorism Financing Networks

The Obama administration “systematically disbanded” law enforcement investigative units across the federal government focused on disrupting Iranian, Syrian, and Venezuelan terrorism financing networks out of concern the work could cause friction with Iranian officials and scuttle the nuclear deal with Iran, according to a former U.S. official who spent decades dismantling terrorist financial networks. Trump delivering biggest cut in regulations since Reagan

It was odd that a seemingly boring campaign line calling for fewer federal regulations would win applause, but candidate Donald Trump’s promise was cheered so loudly last year that President Trump made it an early priority in his administration.

And it appears that he is delivering big time, especially on his pledge to kill two regulations for every new one issued. According to a tally provided by the free-market Competitive Enterprise Institute, the president has issued fewer rules than any other president since Ronald Reagan and cut the costs of those regulations significantly.

The American Action Forum, a conservative think tank that charts federal policy and rules, called Trump’s regulatory freeze “historic.” | More…

Barack Obama’s Post-Presidential World Tour is Starting to Get Creepy

Barack’s intimate dinner with Justin [Trudeau] isn’t the former President’s first suspiciously timed foreign meeting, though. Since Trump has been in office, Obama’s been quietly following the current President’s schedule—taking meetings, meeting with foreign leaders, and giving policy speeches, often in the same city (or closely following) President Trump, like a weird, shadowy figure.

Obama timed his trip to Europe to coincide with Trump’s first official state visit, which included a stop in Italy. Perhaps unsurprisingly, as Trump was hanging with the Pope, Obama was meeting with Italy’s Prime Minister Matteo Renzi. |More…

Oppressive Regimes Threatened By Free Satellite Signals

In many parts of the world, especially poorer ones, internet access is barely available, and if it is at all, it’s expensive and slow. There also isn’t much in the way of in-home entertainment options as cable TV is non-existent as people cannot afford it. To get their news and entertainment, many people in the world turn to the sky, especially in oppressive regimes. | More…
