Conflicts of Interest in the Queen City’s Charter Breaches

Rich talked about the still raging controversy surrounding the aldermen who breached Manchester’s Charter in voting for contracts in which they had conflicts of interest.  He pointed out that spending was driven so high that the tax cap had to be overridden and shared his opinion that the issue should be referred to the Office of Public Integrity for an investigation. | Segment Page

NHFPI Hides the Good Fiscal News Behind What May Not Even be Bad News

In a recent report the New Hampshire Fiscal Policy Institute (NHFPI) hems and haws its way through potential fiscal decline couched in “mights and maybes” and then (Surprise!) we get “substantially more” in paragraph four.

While the preliminary accrual revenues for SFY 2017 show no growth over SFY 2016’s preliminary accrual numbers, the figures do show substantially more revenue than was planned under the SFYs 2016-2017 State Budget.  | More…

NH Poll: Kasich leads Trump among likely GOP primary voters? I don’t Think So…

So there’s a poll out putting John “everyman™” Kasich ahead of President Trump among “likely” Republican primary voters which translates to, likely to not be on Vacation in the first week of August, willing to pick up the phone for a number they don’t recognize and then complete a political poll.

Translation of the translation: This is narrative-mill rubbish. |More…

Sidewalk signs added to anti-panhandling fight

MANCHESTER — City police have unveiled their latest tool to discourage residents from giving money to panhandlers — sandwich-board sidewalk signs asking people to give to local charities instead.

The signs, similar to those installed on poles at more than a dozen locations across Manchester last month, say: “Your generosity could lead to a fatality.” People are encouraged to consider making a donation instead to social service agencies such as New Horizons for New Hampshire, Child and Family Services, and Families in Transition; the addresses and phone numbers for each are listed. *|More…

Weeding Out the Administrative State

“…one BIG reason why Trump and Steve Bannon are HATED by Democrats / Progressive Authoritarians – they’ve made one of their Administration anchors to corral in and eliminate what the Federal Govt has wrought – 98,099 final rules – with their “propose 1, cut 2” rule for new regs (and right now, that 2 for 1 is running at a 16 to 1 run rate).  And here is Steve Bannon talking about it. | More…

Ten Myths of the Left That Need to Be Burnt at the Stake

1. WE ARE A NATION OF IMMIGRANTS No, we’re not. We’re a nation of citizens. This country was built on legal immigration, and the ones who made it through learned the language and assimilated. Many didn’t get in. Today’s scenario is 15 million illegals ridiculing those who played by the rules. Legal immigrants wait 15 years to get green cards and many bring a ton of jobs with them. The Statue of Liberty doesn’t say “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, and all their relatives.” Learn the difference between legal and illegal.Oh, and don’t give me that old “They’re doing jobs Americans won’t do” line. They’re doing jobs Americans won’t do – for that price. In Canada, there are no Mexicans and the landscaping still gets done. They use teenagers.

2. THIS COUNTRY WAS BUILT ON SLAVERY | More…

Girard at Large – On Air News Read for August 8, 2017

Secretary of State William M. Gardner and Attorney General Gordon J. MacDonald announced that State Senator Betty Laskey, Democrat from Nashua, and State Rep. Neal Kurk, Republican from Weare, have dismissed the bogus lawsuit they brought to block Secretary of State Bill Gardner’s release of publicly available voter information.

Gardner filed pleadings opposing the plaintiffs’ lawsuit, yesterday arguing that the State’s right-to know law, required release of the marked voter checklists maintained in the State Archives.  The plaintiffs’ dismissal conceded that was correct.  In a letter to MacDonald, which we’ve uploaded with this news read at Girard at Large dot com, Gardner wrote he will provide the President’s Commission on Election Integrity, of which he is a member, electronic copies of marked voter checklists for each municipality archived in his office as required by state law.  | More….
