In one of several great segments from my stint guest-hosting Girard at Large this morning Eva Castillo-Sturgeon tells us about how Venezuela, which is her native country, has transitioned from the only thriving Democracy in South America to the crumbling socialist wreck it is today. | More…

AmeriCorps Members to Come to N.H. to Fight Drug Crisis
Starting in November 16 AmeriCorps volunteers will be coming to New Hampshire to work with people fighting drug addiction in the state.
These volunteers will serve as community health workers in Lebanon, Nashua and Strafford County.
They’ll be tasked with providing care that some health workers are too strapped to offer. That might include finding housing and work for those in recovery or providing rides to treatment centers. | More…

Committee Looks For Input On N.H. Higher Ed System
A legislative committee is seeking public input about the quality and overall value of New Hampshire’s higher education system.
The Public Higher Education Study Committee is trying to determine whether students leave school with critical thinking skills, personal and professional development and the ability to repay student loan debt. Republican state Sen. John Reagan, the committee’s chairman, says the panel is looking for individual stories that illustrate the quality of the education students receive in New Hampshire. | More…

Default Budgets: Anybody with the Guts to Fix Them?
You may remember that I challenged SAU 55 and the Timberlane Regional School District in New Hampshire’s Superior court in order to obtain a line-item default budget. Unfortunately, I was not successful and Timberlane taxpayers had to suffer once again with a default budget HIGHER than the proposed budget which is contrary to the legislative intent of default budgets. Since the default budget is what the district must run on if the proposed budget is rejected by voters, it is imperative to know how the default budget is constructed. | More…
Net Roots Nation: Democrats Shouting Down White Democrats
Nobody was saying a thing about Evans’ policies, voting record or insufficiently progressive positions. The chants were all about “Support Black Women.” In case you haven’t picked up on this yet, Evans is white and one of her opponents in the primary, Stacey Abrams (who is described in the article as having been “treated like royalty”) is black. That’s the entire difference. In fact, when one of the AJ-C reporters caught up with the protesters to ask about their opposition to Evans, they couldn’t come up with a thing. | More…

Former US Senators from New Hampshire don’t get to decide
I am getting the impression that we could be at Nov 7, 2020 and the No-Trumpers like (Gordon)Humphrey will have steam coming out of their ears. Gordon needs to understand that millions of his countrymen cast their votes for him and not for Hillary. What gives that your single judgement, regardless of your high service as a US Senator, is better than theirs? |More…
