Listen Live Tomorrow Morning

I’ll be away from the Internet most of the day today so there won’t be much if any new content posted. Instead, scroll down through the recent material, some fifty or so links to news and opinion over the past few days. Or use search to find links related to a town, person, or issue that’s been shared. And be sure to share it if you like it.

One more note. I will be back on Girard at Large after a week off. The new segment is called ‘No Safe Spaces, ‘ and it airs live at 6:20am on WLMW 90.7 FM. You can also listen online or from your mobile device via Soundcloud or at Girard at Large.com.

No, Democrats Don’t Want to Have a Conversation About Preventing Mass-Shootings

One of the themes that Democrats and their surrogates in the press have been sounding since the mass-shooting in Las Vegas is that we “need to talk about gun control” in order to prevent more mass shootings.  For example, these two Democrat trolls trolling Governor Sununu. |More…

Parents in Litchfield, New Hampshire are being warned by local police and the school district to pay close attention to their children’s social media.

This after several middle school girls say they received lewd photographs through the popular social media app Snapchat.

Crybaby Candidates and the Mentality of Self-Importance

On October 5th, I reported on a candidate forum organized and advertised by Ward 6 school board candidate John DiPietro.  Having read his press release and visited the Facebook event post he published, it was clear that this was an open invitation to any candidate running for office and any member of the public who wanted to discuss a variety of issues facing the city’s schools.  That NH Commissioner of Education Frank Edelblut  agreed to moderate the round-table, I thought, was a great catch for the event. | More…

Despite Lapse in CHIP Funding, N.H. DHHS Says Coverage Doesn’t Face Imminent Risk

NH-DHS-Logo-Web-500x281At least for now, New Hampshire seems to be in a better position than other states to weather a lapse in federal funding for the Children’s Health Insurance Program, or CHIP, after Congress failed to reauthorize it by last week’s deadline.

New Hampshire officials say they planned for a possible disruption in CHIP funding when crafting the current state budget, and they expect to have enough money to fund the program through the biennium — barring any major changes in demand.  | More…

Les Otten: $5M Balsams Loan Required His Testimony For Northern Pass

CONCORD — The second half of the regulatory war over the Northern Pass Transmission project began in confusion Friday as the opposition opened its case before the Site Evaluation Committee in the months-long proceedings.

Eversource’s final witness Les Otten, who is redeveloping the Balsams Resort, was grilled about the timing of the project’s economic development fund’s $5 million loan and his support of the transmission line. Then the hearing quickly ground to a halt. | More…

LFDA: IN LIGHT OF VEGAS SHOOTING, STRICTER GUN LAWS?

The mass shooting in Las Vegas this week has prompted gun control advocates to call for stricter laws on the sale and possession of firearms.

Most of these proposals are at the federal level. For example, U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan is sponsoring a federal bill “to close a loophole that allows semi-automatic weapons to be easily modified to fire at the rate of automatic weapons.”  | More…

Why the New Hampshire GOP Keeps Losing Special Elections

Democrats have won five of seven special elections in New Hampshire – one State Senate seat and four State Rep seats. Unnamed GOP “operatives,” say its simply that the Democrats have more money and staff.  As John Boehner famously said: Are you kidding me!

The Democrats always have more money and staff.

There are three reasons. | More…
