Federal Complaint Filed Against Dartmouth

The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine filed a federal complaint against Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center for its “unlawful use of live animals in its emergency medicine training program.”

According to the complaint, “the medical center uses live sheep to teach procedural skills to emergency medicine residents, despite the widespread availability and implementation of educationally superior nonanimal training methods.”

A recent inspection conducted by the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service found that Dartmouth College’s Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee, who would have approved the medical center’s procedures, did not include in the protocol a written narrative description of the methods and sources used to determine that alternatives were not available for some of the protocols. Lebanon NH smoking ban to take effect in July

LEBANON, N.H. -Lebanon, New Hampshire is following the lead of other communities by banning smoking in designated public spaces.

Scattered throughout the City of Lebanon it’s not uncommon to spot cigarette smokers and the butts they leave behind.

“Both residents and visitors from all over are coming through our front doors, and they are walking through what feels like an ashtray a lot of times,” said Ben Coats, Lebanon’s Recreation & Parks Director. More…

Students at Pinkerton Academy Say ‘Outdated’ Dress Code Objectifies Women

Controversy is brewing in one New Hampshire high school over what some students are calling a sexist and outdated dress code. Now a group of students are working to change it.

A group of students are making it clear they’re not fighting for the right to wear short shorts. They say it is a social issue far more important than that.

“I think it’s sexism starting at a young age,” said Pinkerton Academy Junior Madelaine Rodriguez.
