Manchester has a new city solicitor and for the first time in decades…

Manchester has a new city solicitor and for the first time in decades, an outsider has been appointed to the post, as Mayor Ted Gatsas’ nomination of Emily Gray Rice to fill the position was ratified by a phone poll of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen.  Yesterday morning, shortly before nine, Gatsas announced he’d named Rice as Interim City Solicitor pending confirmation by the board.

He said he’d named her as the interim and ordered the phone poll to avoid having to wait for her nomination and confirmation at the board’s meeting on July 18th, citing the immediate need to address the now infamous problems that led Police Chief Nick Willard to ask Attorney General Gordon MacDonald to investigate the office’s handling of domestic violence cases.  MacDonald’s findings caused City Solicitor Thomas Clark to abruptly announce his retirement.  Assistant City Solicitor Thomas Arnold followed suit just days later.  | More…

Complaint: Religious flyers given to hunter safety class

LACONIA, N.H. (AP) — The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department is investigating a complaint from the Freedom from Religion Foundation that participants in an agency-sponsored hunter safety class held at a church were given religious flyers.

Laura Ryder, the department’s hunter education supervisor, tells The Laconia Daily Sun it’s not clear who handed out the flyers at the Heritage Free Will Baptist Church in Laconia. The flyers included prayers and information about services. Ryder said materials in the classes are supposed to pertain strictly to hunting. | More…

Mark Steyn: Lutey Tunes

Apologies to all my readers: Last week I carelessly wrote about President Trump’s Warsaw speech as if the words therein corresponded to the definitions ascribed to them by Oxford, Webster’s or any other English dictionary. My mistake. Apparently the plain meaning of the words is entirely irrelevant. Because the words aren’t words per se, they’re “dog whistles.” | More…

Sununu Signs SB 3 Voter Registration “Reform” into Law

Gov. Chris Sununu has signed a voter registration reform bill into law that Republicans say will protect the integrity of elections and Democrats call blatant voter suppression.

Comey back in hot seat over leaked memos

The NY Times breathlessly reported yesterday that Donald Trump, Jr. and others involved in the Trump campaign met with a Russian lawyer who got the meeting by claiming she had damaging information on Hillary Clinton. So the Trump people did what any campaign would do when promised damaging oppo research – they took the meeting.

Does anyone in their right mind think the Clinton campaign (and the media) would not have taken the meeting with such a tease of information? There is no indication that the promised information related to hacking or anything illegal. The media has been pushing the mostly (if not entirely) bogus “Dossier” on Trump, which reportedly was based on Russian sources, so the feigned outrage is hardly credible. | More…

College moves on from LGBTQ director suspicious of ‘white gays and well meaning white women’

I wonder if he’s talking about Ray Buckley (white-gay) or Sherry Frost and if the latter does that make her homicidal too?

The Claremont Colleges are looking for a new Queer Resources Center director after tweets disparaging white people and the police were uncovered just one month into the newly appointed director’s tenure.

Jonathan Higgins was tapped to head the LGBTQ center at the Claremont Colleges in June, but on Saturday a dean at Pomona College said the search for a new director had been reopened. | More…

Trump cancels Obama’s special immigration program for foreign entrepreneurs

The Trump administration put a hold Monday on an Obama-era policy that was designed to encourage foreign entrepreneurs to settle in the U.S. to build their companies, saying immigration officials are already overwhelmed with more important work.

It’s the latest of President Obama’s executive actions on immigration to be unwound by President Trump, and it comes a week before the new policy was to take effect. | More…

Michael Mann Refuses to Give his Hockey Stick Data to the Court

Michael Mann sued some folks, Tim Ball, Mark Steyn, and National Review because they “made fun” of his hockey stick. The Canadian court (where he is suing Tim Ball) would like to see the hockey stick data so it can review Michael Mann’s defense of it and render judgment.  He refuses to share it with the court. | More…
