Family Sues to Stop Inheritance After Suspicious Deaths

The family of a man suspected in the slaying of his millionaire grandfather filed a lawsuit in New Hampshire on Monday accusing him of killing his grandfather and possibly his mother, who was lost at sea during a mother-son fishing trip, in a bid to collect a multimillion-dollar inheritance.

Nathan Carman’s maternal grandfather, wealthy real estate developer John Chakalos, was found fatally shot at his Connecticut home in 2013. Carman, of Vernon, Vermont, was a suspect in the death of Chakalos, who was 87, but no one was arrested. | More…

Prep School Says “Relationship Crown” Violated Rules, Not Law

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — Male prep school students who recorded relationships with girls on a cardboard crown this spring violated campus rules but not the law, the head of the school said Monday.

The crown incident at St. Paul’s School was among those cited by the state attorney general’s office last week when it began an investigation into allegations of sexual assault and misconduct there. The investigation also was prompted by information about a student sexual conquest ritual called the Senior Salute, revealed during a recent graduate’s 2015 trial and the school’s recent release of a report about teachers sexually assaulting students years ago.    | More…

12-year-old girl killed while water-skiing in New Hampshire

A 12-year-old girl was killed Monday while water-skiing in New Hampshire when a boat her father was operating struck her, authorities said.

The horrific episode occurred shortly before 8:30 a.m. on Newfound Lake in Hebron, N.H., according to State Police. The girl had been waterskiing on the lake in front of the Hillside Inn as family members watched from the towing boat, State Police said in a release. | More…
