CONCORD — In a move that surprised many Democrats, the House Criminal Justice Committee has done an about-face on Senate Bill 66, the so-called “fetal homicide bill.”
Having voted 20-1 to retain the bill on May 9, the committee was expected to hold a work session on the measure Tuesday with an eye toward next year. At least that’s what was posted in the House calendar.
Instead, Rep. John Burt, R-Goffstown, introduced a motion to reconsider the bill, which passed 12-8. By the same 12-8 vote, the committee then approved an “ought to pass” recommendation on the bill. More…
