How much is Open Government Worth to You?

Last Year HB 178 passed which established a 13 member commission to study alternative processes to resolve right-to-know complaints …

fter several months of meetings, the 13 member Study Commission found that citizens need a grievance resolution process which is easier, cheaper, faster and results in less cost for all parties while also maintaining independence, credibility, impartiality, and minimizing any political influence. |Read More at Right to Know NH

American Civil War Part II

Kurt Schlichter has a very engaging piece up at Townhall.com in which he takes on the question of a second civil war between Democrats and normal Americans. Democrats lost the first one, and Schlichter contends that were there to be another, and he isn’t saying there will, they’d lose the second.

He offers two scenarios that could trigger such an event, the outcome of which are both based on the same tactical challenges for the left. |Keep Reading at GraniteGrok.com

New Hampshire Senate kills vehicle registration fees expansion measure

A bill that would’ve given Concord that power was recently defeated in the state Senate on a party line vote, 14-10. Republican senators criticized the bill as an unnecessary attempt to raise the cost of living for the capital city’s residents, while Democrats said it was a simple matter of encouraging local control in decision making. |More at NH Watchdog

New Hampshire Could Become the Ninth Income Tax-Free State

New Hampshire is often mislabeled as a state with no income tax, as it does not impose a state tax on income received from wages or salaries. But, the state does levy a tax on another form of income, interest and dividends. The New Hampshire Senate recently passed a bill, SB 404, which would phase out the state tax on interest and dividends over the next five years. The elimination of the tax would relieve New Hampshire residents who receive income from interest and dividends, and would classify the state as truly having no income tax. | Keep Reading at the Tax Foundation

How Public Bodies Obstruct your Right to Know

David Maudsley wanted to know how much two legal cases cost the taxpayers in SAU 55.  He never found out. He got some partial information after the exchange of many emails and a two-month wait. Here is his charming cry of frustration to the board of SAU 55 who will do nothing more than wink at the administrator responsible for this insult to open government. |Read More at Right to Know NH

Keene: College security says I’m required to answer questions

I question some government officials on camera as they enter the “College / City Commission” meeting at Keene State College. The meeting is public, but one of the participants tells the others she’s going to call security. As long as security and/or the KSC policeman is there, I might as well question him too. ‘ |RidleyReport

Sunshine always Right

Open government is not a political platform. It is a basic American right.

The political landscape is more polarized than ever and there seems to be little common ground for conservatives and progressives.

Transparency — keeping the light on the people’s business — ought to be something everyone can agree on. | Keep Reading at Right to Know NH

School Choice for NH: Schedule for Week of March 12, 2018

The only significant bill this week is SB 193, the Education Savings Account bill.
