Stratford Health Department Targets Starbucks Unicorn Frappuccino

Though Starbucks’ new Unicorn Frappuccino has garnered national attention for its whimsical name and enchanting, pink-and-blue color scheme, at least one local group in Connecticut is cautioning people about its oh-so-sweet content.

On Friday, the Stratford Health Department succinctly called out the drink’s high sugar content on its Facebook page. “While the Unicorn Frappuccino may be pretty to look at, it’s loaded with 59 grams of sugar! That is over two times the amount of sugar recommended by the American Heart Association!” More…

A Question We Should All Ask Our School Board or School Budget Committee

The Question: what is your ratio of direct to indirect labor (both ways: head count and fully burdened costs).

When I was on my hamlet’s Budget Committee, I had to ask that for a few years and then, given the declining student enrollment but increasing costs (pretty much NOT “for the children” but “FOR THE UNION”), it became a question they could not ignore and overhead positions started to get cut. More…

Trump voters don’t have buyer’s remorse. But some Hillary Clinton voters do.

The Pew Research Center released a poll showing very little buyer’s remorse among Trump voters. The poll showed just 7 percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents say Trump has performed worse than they expected him to. Fully 38 percent — five times as many — say he has performed better.

A new Washington Post-ABC News poll confirms this — in spades. And, in fact, it shows more buyer’s remorse for Trump’s opponent in the 2016 election, Hillary Clinton. And were the 2016 election held again today, it shows Trump would avenge his popular-vote loss. More…

An Opening For Trump In Deep Blue Oregon

Payne says his business is thriving. A “now hiring” sign even hangs out front. Seneca Sawmill has weathered the past few decades better than many of Oregon’s other timber operations.
