Rockingham man had 208 bags of heroin

A Rockingham man was arrested Friday in the Hetty Green parking lot. Police say he possessed 208 bags of heroin, as well as cocaine.

Matthew D. Dunn, 34, was arrested on charges of trafficking heroin and possession of cocaine, according to a news release from the Bellows Falls Police Department. More…

Police in New Hampshire Investigate Counterfeit $20 Bills

ROCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — Police in Rochester, New Hampshire, are working with the Secret Service to try to determine the origin of counterfeit $20 bills that have been found in the area.

First lightning death of the year kills woman, horse

A 37-year-old woman was killed by lightning in Colorado Sunday, the first lightning-related death of the year, according to the National Weather Service.

The woman was riding a horse in Douglas County, south of Denver. The lightning strike also killed the horse and injured a 15-year-old girl.  More…

Tick-Borne Powassan Virus Making an Appearance in NH

Although there have been only two cases confirmed by the Centers for Disease Control in New Hampshire, Powassan virus, spread by ticks, as is Lyme disease, is of great concern to health professionals.

Still, Dr. David Itkin, Infectious disease specialist at Portsmouth Regional Hospital said it is important to remember that Lyme disease remains the most important threat to the public from the black-legged ticks. He said more cases of Lyme are seen than any other area tick-borne disease. More…

I keep hearing people talk about the Information Age and all we have to do is look something up on the Internet to get answers to our questions. While this may be true in one sense, how would you feel if your doctor had to look everything up on their I-pad during a visit? Don’t you expect the teacher in the classroom to have knowledge of what they are teaching? Shouldn’t the builder know how to measure and add fractions together? Basic knowledge allows an individual to be literate in certain subjects. Education Bills Scheduled for Week of May 15, 2017

We’re down to the final important school choice bill of the session — SB 8, one of this year’s town tuitioning (aka Croydon) bills. Not only will it clarify that these programs are legal, it will have an impact on Croydon’s appeal to the NH Supreme Court.
