So, Dartmouth BDS Prof can’t take a promotion because hating Israel is a distraction outside academia.

AP corrects crowd estimate in Conway visit, won’t use reporter again for politics

The Associated Press has issued a correction in connection with its report on Kellyanne Conway’s speech to New Hampshire Republicans last week, acknowledging that its crowd estimate was wrong.

The original, four-paragraph report from freelance reporter Melanie Plenda estimated the attendance at about 150. “Further reporting has indicated the hotel ballroom, which seats 500, was near capacity,” reads the AP correction Wednesday. More…

We are All A Mess

A big hot mess is no way to describe a person, but it has been pretty common in some survivor circles. It seems to me that every single person alive has been a big hot mess at one time or another. No one has it all together all the time.

Life is like the surface of the earth. High mountains are surrounded by valleys. More…

Health Insurance: Big Spikes and Little Things

My local Sunday paper had an above-the-fold headline the other day: “Obamacare rate could see big spike in NH next year.” This refers only to my state, where an unidentified government official leaked to the press a document projecting an average Obamacare-exchange premium rate increase of 44%.

The headline could easily have said “another spike.” Obamacare-linked price hikes are old news. Still, I’m glad this wound up on the front page. That indicates that at least one assignment editor doesn’t take big increases for granted. More…

Republicans working to find strong candidate to challenge Kuster

Republicans are already working hard to find a strong candidate to take on U.S. Rep. Annie Kuster in the 2nd District next year, and a familiar name has been circulating.

Republicans have been waiting for a few years for former state Rep. Lynne Blankenbeker to finish her active military career. They’re hoping that when she does, in early January, she will run for the seat. They consider her a potentially formidable challenger for the three-term Democrat. More…

Rich talked to Ed Naile, Chairman of the Coalition of New Hampshire Taxpayers, for A Question of Voter Fraud. New Hampshire House eyes lottery game for kindergarten funds

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — Legislators in New Hampshire are eying a new option to fund full-day kindergarten for the state — a lottery game called Keno which the state Senate has frequently opposed in the past.

Budget writers are expected to finalize the proposal on Wednesday, which would link the lottery game as a source of revenue for full-day kindergarten. More…
