Bacteria Alerts At 2 NH Beaches

HOLLIS, NH — Bacteria warnings were issued at two New Hampshire beaches this week. A cyanobacteria warning was issued for Silver Lake in Hollis and a fecal bacteria warning was issued for Griffin Beach in Franklin, state environmental officials announced Tuesday. Swimmers were advised to stay out of the water and boaters were urged to stay away if they see deep clouds of green or blue clouds in the water. | More…

Man accused of firing shots in downtown Concord

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — Police in Concord, New Hampshire, have arrested a man accused of firing multiple gunshots at night near Main Street. No one was hurt.

Police said the shots were fired at about 11:40 p.m. Wednesday. Police found a 9mm semi-automatic gun, expended ammunition magazines and numerous shell casings on a street that parallels North Main Street. | More…

Compromise full-day kindergarten plan heads to Legislature

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — New Hampshire lawmakers appointed to develop a compromise plan to provide public funding for full-day kindergarten reached a deal Thursday, moving one of Republican Gov. Chris Sununu’s priorities another step forward.

Nearly 75 percent of New Hampshire communities already offer full-day kindergarten, but the state only pays half the standard per-student amount for those pupils, or about $1,800. |More…

Man Fatally Stabbed Woman in NH Over Half-Ounce of Pot

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — A detective has testified that a man accused of fatally stabbing a woman in Concord, New Hampshire, was confronted by her over the theft of a half-ounce of marijuana.

The Concord Monitor reports Detective Wade Brown testified Wednesday that 23-year-old Sabrina Marie Galusha and three friends met with 20-year-old Daswan Jette to sell him marijuana, but the deal didn’t go as planned. |More…
