House Democrat files an article of impeachment against Trump

Some think the Democrats just walked into a trap. I’m inclined to agree.

Rep. Brad Sherman (D-CA) on Wednesday officially introduced an article of impeachment against President Trump on the grounds of obstructing justice.

“Recent disclosures by Donald Trump Jr. indicate that Trump’s campaign was eager to receive assistance from Russia,” he said in a statement.

“It now seems likely that the President had something to hide when he tried to curtail the investigation of National Security Advisor Michael Flynn and the wider Russia probe,” Sherman added. “I believe his conversations with, and subsequent firing of, FBI Director James Comey constitute Obstruction of Justice.” | More…

Keno-Garten is officially on the books now in New Hampshire

Keno-Garten is officially on the books now in New Hampshire.  Governor Christopher Sununu signed the bill into law yesterday.  For those who’ve forgotten or are otherwise unaware, the funding mechanism for Full Day K, as it’s called, is the gambling game Keno.  Until this bill was signed, Keno was not legal in New Hampshire.  Now it is, so long as voters in local communities vote to allow the eligible businesses in their city or town to host the machines.  The vote can be ordered either by the governing body or by citizen petition.  | More…

Laws Will Increase Penalties For Performing Female Genital Mutilation

New legislation signed into law by Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder on Tuesday makes female genital mutilation a felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison. The laws apply both to doctors who conduct the procedure and parents who transport a child to undergo it.

“Those who commit these horrendous crimes should be held accountable for their actions, and these bills stiffen the penalties for offenders while providing additional support to victims,” Gov. Snyder said in a statement. “This legislation is an important step toward eliminating this despicable practice in Michigan while empowering victims to find healing and justice.” | More…

So Now Social Justice Political Activist is a Job American’s Wont Do?

Congratulations to Viola Katusiime, Granite State Organizing Project’s (GSOP) Family, and Economic Security Organizer. She’s been waiting a year, and her H-1B visa was finally approved.

I’m no expert on non-immigration or H-1B visa’s, but I can read and agitating to advance mostly left-wing priorities, even with the best of intentions, does not appear to me to be one of the qualifying factors. | More…

Grover Norquist Visits N.H., Praises Pledge-Signing Lawmakers

Grover Norquist is occasionally referred to as the ‘dark wizard’ of conservative politics. His Washington-based organization, Americans for Tax Reform, is perhaps best known for its Taxpayer Protection Pledge, which calls on politicians to oppose any increase in taxes.

On Tuesday, Norquist spoke at the headquarters of another conservative group, Americans for Prosperity-New Hampshire, where he pointed out just how in need of reform the federal tax system is. | More…

Controversial clean energy bill becomes law without governor’s Sununu’s signature

I opposed it in May and June and now July and so one and so forth.

Senate Bill 129, a measure that gives a boost to the state’s wood and solar energy industries but could also raise electric bills, became law July 11 without Gov. Chris Sununu’s signature.

The bill – dubbed the Clean Energy Jobs Act of 2017 – was the only significant energy bill passed in the recently concluded legislative session. It was controversial to the very end, pitting the Business and Industry Association of New Hampshire against other business groups, such as the NH Clean Tech Council and the NH Timberland Owners Association. | More…
