Oct. 13 (UPI) — Consumers’ confidence in the U.S. economy has surged this month to its highest level in 13 years, researchers said Friday.

Richard Curtin, chief economist for the University of Michigan’s monthly Survey of Consumers, said the rate, which increased more than 6 percent from September, is a reflection by consumers that the economy is performing about as well as can be expected. | Keep Reading at UPI

The Saga of School Board Member Nancy Tessier – Messier and Messier

You have to admire the Manchester paper for helping out a friend on the city’s school committee. Here is the title of a “news” story they wrote: Paul Feely’s City Hall: Did school board member violate confidentiality?

The issue isn’t, did she violate confidentiality, she absolutely did that. Apparently, it is a funny habit she has. The real story is that a majority of the Board covered for her rather than do the right thing – have an investigation – in public. |Keep Reading at the Girard at Large.

Trump has altered over 800 Obama-era regulations…

Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said Friday that President Trump is “systematically” removing hundreds of regulations put in place by the Obama administration.

“The president has already knocked out some 860 rules and regulations from the Obama administration, and every day we’re finding more and more to do. Remember, Obama put in something like 7,000 new rules and regulations just in the last two years he was in office,” Mr. Ross said on Fox Business. | Read More at the WT

Rich Girard: Breaking the rules, and getting away with it

On Monday, September 25th, the Manchester Board of School Committee did two things that actually made my jaw drop.

As you may know, at-Large board member Nancy Tessier violated policies of the school board, provisions of the city charter and laws of the state when she disclosed the contents of a non-public meeting to the staff members who were the subject of a confidential discussion.  That’s not my accusation.  It’s the finding of the school district’s lawyer, who conducted an investigation after Tessier leaked the information in an email she sent to the board, which she copied to the staff. | More at Girard at Large

Harvey Weinstein’s Contract Permitted Sexual Harassment, So Long as He Reimbursed the Company for Any Settlements His Behavior Forced Them to Pay Out

Given “associative sorting” in industries, dating and marriage, and even zip codes, with people only associating with their close kin as far as culture and ideology, it does seem likely that the chief victimizers of wealthy white liberal feminists are, get this, wealthy white liberal men — I’m not sure they even know more than five or six conservative men or the Trump Voters they all seem to be so scared of, knowing them only through that actor who did a really great job portraying one on Law & Order:SVUthose fifteen times. | More at Ace of Spades

Who Will Replace Shawn Jasper as Speaker of the New Hampshire House?

Yesterday, news broke that New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu was doing us all a huge favor by offering Speaker Shawn Jasper a job as the Agriculture Commissioner. This would mean Jasper is stepping down from his Statehouse seat and relinquishing the Speaker’s chair.

I think Jasper will take up the Governor up on his offer. | More at GraniteGrok
