GORHAM — To “buy peace,” the town has settled a lawsuit brought by resident Robert Balon, who sought $875,000 in damages and to have Police Chief Paul Cyr Jr. fired for allegedly violating Balon’s “constitutional rights with demands and threats.”

Under the terms of the settlement agreement and general release filed May 17 in Coos County Superior Court and accepted by Judge Lawrence MacLeod, Balon, through attorney Seth Hipple, will receive $6,500 from Primex Inc., the town’s insurer. More…
