Trump nominates Bedford’s Rich Ashooh for Commerce post

BEDFORD — University Systems of New Hampshire executive and former congressional candidate Rich Ashooh of Bedford is President Trump’s nominee to be assistant commerce secretary heading up export administration.

Last fall, Ashooh opposed the renomination of then-Republican Congressman Frank Guinta of Manchester and lost in that GOP primary. Democrat Carol Shea-Porter of Rochester recaptured the First Congressional District seat by unseating Guinta last November. More…
