The Rochester Fair is shutting down, ending an annual tradition of 142 years, organizers said Friday.

Families started going to the 10-day Rochester Fair in 1874. Its sprawling fairgrounds in the center of town were filled with rides, agricultural displays, arts and crafts exhibits, the midway, and, for a long time, horse racing. More…
