Rich started the hour by sharing his frustration over the Democratic Party’s hypocrisy in ignoring local control when trying to tell school districts what to do and shared about the heat that President Donald Trump is feeling regarding his decision to remove federal funding from Sanctuary Cities that choose not to revoke their sanctuary status. While many other states, particularly California, are seeking out new ways to “fight Trump” and defy the enforcement of immigration law, Texas is taking a decidedly different approach. Out in the Lone Star State, Republicans are moving forward with a bill which would essentially ban sanctuary cities and impose some stiff penalties for those not in compliance. This is in keeping with statements that Governor Abbott has made in the past, so if it makes it to his desk it will likely go through. Part of it is the usual route of cutting off state funding and grants, but this one takes the additional step of holding leaders, including police chiefs and sheriffs, accountable. President Trump’s plan to overhaul the federal tax code threatens to fall disproportionately on residents of liberal-leaning states, a short-term boost for state governments that could turn into a long-term drag.
Most states have tied their tax codes closely to the federal code. Since the federal income tax was first levied in 1913, taxpayers have been able to deduct the state and local taxes they pay from their federal taxable income. Taxpayers who live in states with higher tax rates are able to deduct more from their federal taxes than those who live in states with lower rates. More…

ALLENSTOWN, N.H. (AP) — Local, state and federal law enforcement officers are still searching for clues in a New Hampshire town where two barrels containing four bodies were found years ago.
WMUR-TV (http://bit.ly/2q9U7m4 ) reports authorities searched the woods of Bear Brook State Park in Allenstown on Wednesday in the same area where the barrels containing the bodies were found in 1985 and 2000. More…

President Donald Trump has “absolutely” considered proposals that would break up the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals — the federal appeals court that ruled against his travel ban — he said Wednesday.
Congress is currently considering legislation that would break up the appellate court currently that covers nine Western states plus Guam. In an interview with the Washington Examiner, Trump accused opponents of his agenda of “judge shopping” by sending cases through the 9th Circuit on appeal. More…
