After Promising to Solve Opioid Crisis, N.H. Advocates Waiting for Trump

While she might not agree with the President’s description of New Hampshire as a “drug-infested den” — as far as Kriss Blevens is concerned, his sentiment is spot-on.

“How he said it, maybe isn’t how a majority of us would communicate,” Blevens said. “But what he said is true. We are in a state of emergency.”

Veterans cemetery considered in northern New Hampshire

STARK, N.H. (AP) — Officials are looking into creating a second state veterans cemetery, this one in northern New Hampshire.

New Hampshire established its veterans cemetery in Boscawen 20 years ago.

Officials are looking at about 20 acres in the community of Stark, which served briefly in the 1940s as a World War II German prisoner of war camp, The Caledonian-Record reported. | More…

Carroll County to address 467 labor violations

Robichaud said the inspection covered the period from April 2015 to October 2016. He said the labor department has proposed a fine of $48,100 but that there is room to negotiate it down.

Builder of Warner gun range undeterred by judge’s ruling

The builder of a gun range in Warner is not going to stop clearing his land, despite a court order voiding one of the permissions granted by the town’s land use board.

Merrimack County Superior Court Judge Richard McNamara ruled in late July that the Zoning Board of Adjustments lacked jurisdiction to grant Dragonfly Holdings, LLC, a special exception allowing the company to build the range because two of the abutters, the town of Hopkinton and the Central New Hampshire Regional Planning Commission, were not properly notified of a public hearing to discuss the range’s application.

Peterborough Police Chief: Legal Pot Means Fewer Arrests

Peterborough Police Chief Scott Guinard said that the threshold would affect an estimated quarter of Peterborough’s marijuana arrest, based on past arrests. He said he has serious concerns about how the change in law will affect policing.
