Ed Naile: Ask Martha How She Does It?

Apparently, the City of Portsmouth has a problem with people renting out apartments through Airbnb.

“Officials do not track Airbnb rentals specifically, and city attorney Robert Sullivan says he estimates the total number of cease and desist orders issued this year for short-term rentals is less than 10.” |More…

Right To Know – when Government turns on the Citizens that own it

When the [Belknap County] Delegation voted in secret, the 91-A demand was given, and the Delegation refused.  It eventually went to court where Doug and Tom, pro se (acting as their own lawyers), were victorious and proved that the “Peoples’ work” must be done in public. This ruling set a precedent that has been used in some subsequent Right To Know (RTK) court decisions.

The problem is that if our government decides to NOT abide by both the letter and the spirit of the law and starts stalling tactics, starts to hide data, or outright refuses to obey the law, what’s a citizen to do? | More…

Keene State Announces 5.5 Million Dollar Deficit – Guess Why?

As I’ve said before, the Democrats need an alternative plan to rebuild and unite the party if they have any hope in winning back seats in Congress in the 2018 midterms, nonetheless the White House in 2020.

This alternative plan requires a new, united opposition, led by a political leader with widespread popularity.

The only person I can see accomplishing this would be none other than the party’s most popular political figure: Michelle Obama. | More…

Hillary Clinton rules out a 2020 run: ‘I am done with being a candidate’

Former secretary of state Hillary Clinton said Sunday that she will not pursue the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination.

“I am done with being a candidate,” Clinton said on CBS’s “Sunday Morning.”

Clinton – who on Tuesday will release “What Happened,” her memoir of the 2016 campaign – does plan to stay involved in national politics, just not as an “active politician” who may launch a campaign. | More…

Education Advocates Push for Legislature to Embrace Savings Accounts

A recent report card on the progress of education policy legislation during last year’s session has advocates discussing the future of public school choice in New Hampshire.

Michelle Levell, director of School Choice for New Hampshire, issued the organization’s second annual Legislator Report Card on Sept. 5. Oberlin Follows Mizzou and Evergreen – Enrollment Drops, Financial Woes

Oberlin College is at the forefront of social justice outrage hoaxes but until recently had not reported any real-world consequences. See what I did there? Real world? Mizzou went full-stupid with their fake outrage which cost themand cost them and cost them, and then cost them some more.

Evergreen took it to another level, and now they are paying the price. And now the snowflakes at fragile artsy Oberlin have set themselves up to fail with their hoaxes and nonsense which (you should think to their drama-queen delight) parents and potential future students have been watching. | More…

New Hampshire State Revenues on Target, But Concerns Linger

With revenues collected for the first two months of State fiscal year (SFY) 2018, certain revenue sources appear to be matching the State’s revenue plan while others, including key revenue generators, appear to be flagging.

On a cash basis, revenue for the General and Education Trust Funds was $1.4 million below plan during the month of August. The Real Estate Transfer Tax, which has been robust in recent years, fell short of plan by the largest dollar amount of any other source at $1.9 million. Tobacco Tax revenues fell short by $1.4 million, but earlier than anticipated receipts from the Utility Property Tax bolstered revenues by $1.2 million in August. The Meals and Rentals Tax, which has been a reliable source of revenue growth in recent years, matched its planned amount. This follows July revenues in which Meals and Rentals Tax and Real Estate Transfer Tax revenues did not deviate significantly from plan, and Tobacco Tax revenues were $0.8 million higher than planned. | More…
