Twenty-one arrested as hundreds of Trump supporters and counter protesters clash at Berkeley rally.

As one tweet stated, “The utterly predictable consequence of ‘punching Nazis’ as a strategy.” This is particularly true when the so-called “Nazi punchers” are themselves the Nazis despite their claim to be antifascist. It seems most of the antifascists seen running away in the distance are dressed in black.  Kind of ironic, eh? More thoughts…

The SB 242 Casino Hearing is Tomorrow, Tuesday, April 18

Casino Free NH Friends:

Just a quick reminder that the SB 242 casino hearing in Ways & Means is tomorrow, Tuesday, April 18. We hold our press conference at 9 AM, and if you can stand as a backdrop to our speakers, we’d be grateful. Meet in the lobby of the Legislative Office Building at 9:00 AM, and the conference kicks off at 9:15.

After the press conference, the Ways & Means hearing starts at 10 AM, LOB Rooms 202-204. There are four representatives on the fence, so your testimony and/or presence could make the difference.

Please sign the sheet in opposition to the bill when you go in You don’t need to speak, but you should check in. If you can’t stay for the hearing, please sign the opposition sheet before you leave.

Former Manchester woman is now world’s 5th-oldest person

Mother Cecilia, who was born in Manchester as Marie-Josephine Clarice Gaudette, is the oldest person living in Italy and the fifth oldest in the world. She turned 115 on March 25 at the Rome, Italy convent where she has lived since 1958. More…

New Hampshire police, advocates clash over pot bill

With Republican Gov. Chris Sununu on board, advocates for marijuana decriminalization hope this is the year New Hampshire joins its New England neighbors in removing criminal penalties for possessing pot.

Town of Bedford Still Pushing Unwanted Cell Tower

On Wednesday, the Bedford Town Council will once again be discussing whether or not to put a cell tower in place in an area where residents have already fought against it. The previous tower was proposed to be at 190 feet.  The new tower is proposed to be at 130. Why the difference – the application for the tower at 190 feet would have to be approved by the zoning board again, the same board that didn’t pass it before. At 130 feet, the tower only has to be approved by the Bedford Town Council. And that’s where the story gets interesting.  More…

Harrisville, Dublin, and Lyme declare themselves as “sanctuary towns” in New Hampshire

Three small Granite State towns — Harrisville, Dublin, and Lyme — voted at town meetings last month to declare themselves as “sanctuary towns.” However, bigger areas like Durham, home to the University of New Hampshire, and Portsmouth failed to pass similar measures. Students at Dartmouth College in Hanover passed around a petition after the November election seeking for the university to declare itself a “sanctuary school.” More…

The conservative view is that Republicans propose letting New Hampshire Businesses keep an additional $81 million they earned, that the state is opting not to plunder those earnings.
