Kuster Hosting Session for Stakeholders on 2018 Farm Bill

Stake Holders? I think they mean Rent Seekers.

HANOVER, N.H. (AP) — New Hampshire Congresswoman Annie Kuster is inviting local farmers, foresters, conservationists and others to discuss the 2018 Farm Bill at a session in Hanover.

The bill is reauthorized every five years by Congress and covers programs related to nutrition, conservation, forestry, rural development and other agricultural topics.

The listening session is scheduled for Tuesday morning at the Dartmouth Organic Farm. | More…

NH Man returning from medical marijuana festival dies in crash

LEBANON, Maine (AP) — Police say a driver returning from a medical marijuana festival in Maine died when his pickup truck overturned, pinning him underneath the vehicle.

Police said 55-year-old Michael Meattey, of Barrington, New Hampshire, died in the Friday night accident in Lebanon. A passenger, 62-year-old Ronald Jones, also from New Hampshire, was treated at a hospital and released.  | More…

Maybe 99.7% of Boston Anti-Free-Speech Protesters Were Not There for Peaceful Purposes

This morning Chief Nick Willard asked me about the 99.9% (or 99.7%) of protesters whom the Boston Police commissioners claimed were in the city for a peaceful demonstration. I said (paraphrasing) he couldn’t possibly know that but if 40,000™ people showed up to a protest and a handful got violent (throwing rocks, urine, etc) why aren’t you taking them aside and telling them to knock it off?

There’s 40,000™ of you and a few of them (so the story would have to go), just do the right thing and reign in your hooligans.

Trump administration disbands federal advisory committee on climate change

WASHINGTON – The Trump administration has decided to disband the federal advisory panel for the National Climate Assessment, a group aimed at helping policymakers and private-sector officials incorporate the government’s climate analysis into long-term planning.

The charter for the 15-person Advisory Committee for the Sustained National Climate Assessment – which includes academics as well as local officials and corporate representatives – expires Sunday. On Friday, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s acting administrator, Ben Friedman, informed the committee’s chair that the agency would not renew the panel. | More…

Study: Large companies adding jobs in NH

MANCHESTER — The state’s largest employers are adding jobs at a higher clip than at smaller companies.

Census data showed companies with 250 to 499 employees added 10.3 percent more jobs between the second quarter of 2011 and a similar period in 2016. Firms with at least 500 employees grew by 9.9 percent compared to 8.1 percent for all size firms.

The slowest job growth occurred in companies with 19 or fewer workers, with a more modest 4.1 percent. | More…
