New Hampshire lawmaker calls college system dysfunctional
“The audit was disturbing when it exposed the dysfunction of the chancellor and his administration,” state Sen. John Reagan, R-Deerfield, said in an email to Watchdog.org. “I am most curious how the Board of Trustees has allowed this to continue. This includes the lack of accounting controls.”
Among the questionable spending cited in the audit was a college president’s $32,500 purchase of a new 2013 Honda Pilot EX-L with a leather interior. All seven college presidents have cars assigned to them, and some of them have used the vehicles for commuting and personal business, the audit found. | More…

Statewide VFW gun raffle shunned in Salem NH
SALEM, N.H. — Three months after her veteran son took his own life with a gun, Ellen Hill of Methuen, along with some members of the Salem Veterans of Foreign Wars post he frequented, are upset about a firearms raffle hosted by the state VFW.

This story’s been popping up in news feeds all day but I waited for the perfect reporting perspective before sharing it.
Surprise, surprise. A group of Alpha Phi sorority girls at the University of New Hampshire are stirring up controversy, thanks to what probably seemed to them like a harmless video of a party sing-along to Kanye West’s ‘Gold Digger.’
The song contains the ‘n-word,’ which the girls sang along to without a second thought. People didn’t like that too much. In fact, many have expressed total outrage, and the sorority sisters have been called “ignorant and insensitive.” | More…

What’s going on with the Northwood New Hampshire School Board?
As a concerned taxpayer and 16 year resident of Northwood, the bus crisis has been a topic of concern. Searching for more information, I submitted an RTN request. The SAU office and the documents I received were astonishing. The Northwood bus crisis was self-inflicted, courtesy of the Northwood school board and superintendent Gadomski. We ended up in crisis because our bus company, Northwood Transportation, could no longer afford to service our community despite still having a year left on a 3-year contract.
