VT, NH Organic Farmers to Rally Over Labeling Standards

Vermont and New Hampshire organic farmers plan a rally Sunday in Hanover, New Hampshire, to protest what they see as the potential weakening of the national organic labeling standard.

At issue is the labeling of produce grown hydroponically or aquaponically, in soil-free environments.

The National Organic Program, overseen by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, develops organic standards. But it does not presently prohibit hydroponic or aquaponic produce from being labeled “certified organic.” |Read More at the Rutland Herald
