After drug-planting allegations against two officers, 34 cases dropped

Baltimore’s top prosecutor says her office is dismissing 34 cases that relied on the testimony of three officers who are under scrutiny after the release of body camera footage that defense attorneys say shows evidence being fabricated.

Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby said at a news conference Friday that her office is still reviewing dozens of other cases involving the officers. The cases being dropped are drug- or firearm-related. | More…

“Allahu Akbar!” – Well, I dunno about you but that makes it fairly clear to me.

Yet, once again, “experts” and our “betters” claim the opposite.  Yet, once again, we see an asylum seeker from the Religion of Peace not being so peaceful pretty much telling everyone why he is doing this at the top of his lungs. | More…

Dog given Narcan after possible overdose on prescription opioids

LYMAN, MAINE – A three-year-old yellow Labrador retriever had to be given Narcan after her owner believes the dog “overdosed” on Oxycodone Thursday morning.

According to the York County Sheriff’s Office, the pup, named Addie, got into her owner’s legally prescribed medication. Addie’s owner told police her dog seemed a bit drowsy and asked the officer to administer the anti-opioid, Narcan. After she received the shot, Addie seemed to perk up a bit.

Quick Takeaways from the Special Election in State Senate District 16

Unofficial results have Democrat Kevin Cavanaugh defeating Republican David Boutin by a very comfortable margin of 55% to 45% in the Special Election for State Senate District 16.

The result should serve as a wake-up call to the NH GOP because Boutin held the seat from 2010 to 2016 and Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton essentially battled to a draw in 2016, with Clinton eking out a 15,150 to 15,040 win.

The difference in performance between Trump and Boutin is even more striking because Trump had to contend with hordes of out-of-State college students from Southern New Hampshire University and Saint Anselm voting in his election, while Boutin had the benefit of many of these students being home for summer break. | More…

Massachusetts stun gun ban challenge in federal district court

As I’ve noted, many jurisdictions have repealed their bans on stun guns. People v. Yanna (Mich. Ct. App. 2012) struck down one such ban on Second Amendment grounds, and in Caetano v. Massachusetts, the Supreme Court rejected some of Massachusetts’s arguments in favor of the stun gun ban. The court sent the case back to Massachusetts courts so that they could consider the other arguments, but prosecutors decided to just drop that prosecution.

Now, the Center for Individual Rights — an excellent public interest law firm, for which I’m an unpaid legal adviser — is challenging the Massachusetts stun gun ban in federal district court, in Martel v. Healey.  | More…
