Was Manchester Mom Wrongfully Arrested for Daring to Protect her Family?

On Monday, it was reported that a Manchester woman was arrested for “endangering the welfare of a child” because she had a loaded firearm in the glove box and a child was sitting in the front seat of her vehicle. 31-year-old Alycia Neely was pulled over for failing to use a turn signal and the story gets a little strange from there.

New Hampshire man charged with shocking dog with stun gun

ROCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — A New Hampshire man accused of shocking his dog with a stun gun has been arrested on animal cruelty charges. Foster’s Daily Democrat reports that 22-year-old Gage White, of Rochester, turned himself in on Monday.

Police say they seized the dog Oct. 15 and brought it to a veterinarian. They say their investigation found that White had shocked the dog twice. | Read More at the Bristol Herald Courier

NH Bill providing state money for private schools advances

CONCORD — A Senate-passed bill that would give parents state funding to send their children to private schools got a positive recommendation from a House subcommittee, in preparation for a full vote by the House Education Committee on Nov. 8.

The Education Freedom Savings Accounts authorized under SB 193 would enable parents who work with an approved scholarship organization to receive 95 percent of the per-pupil state grant to be used for tuition or other costs at a school of the family’s choice, or to pay for home-schooling. (See related editorial, Page A6) A nine-member subcommittee appointed to study the legislation met for the third time Tuesday and voted 6-3 to recommend the bill ought to pass. *| Keep Reading at Union Leader.com
