Nashua alderman in serious condition at city hospital

NASHUA — Alderman Ken Siegel, Ward 9, was admitted to St. Joseph Hospital Wednesday in serious condition for an undisclosed medical emergency.

The alderman remained at the intensive care unit on Thursday. The nature of the medical emergency is being kept private out of respect for the family, according to city officials.  | More…

Bernie Supporter Posts July 4th Video of Herself Peeing on an American Flag

Self-described left-wing anarchist Emily Lance, a Bernie Sanders supporter from Philadelphia, posted a video online of herself peeing on the American Flag. Philadelphia Woman Posts July 4th Video Urinating on American Flag.

The video, which was originally uploaded to Facebook but later deleted, shows Philadelphia woman Emily Lance urinating on the American flag.

According to the Daily Mail, a caption accompanying the video read: “F*** your nationalism. F*** your country. F*** your stupid f****** flag.”

It would be a good deal braver of her to pee on the ISIS flag. Maybe next time.

New Hampshire bankruptcies edge up from a year ago

June bankruptcy filings in New Hampshire were down from the previous month, although they were up slightly from a year ago.

It seems – as we pass the year’s midpoint – that the steady decline in the number of personal bankruptcy filings since experienced since the recession is over. Indeed, year to date, there were just under 10 more filings per month, or about a 6 percent increase. That’s after a 9 percent decrease in filings 2016, which followed five years of double-digit decreases. | More…

Oregon approves measure requiring insurers to cover abortion

Insurance companies in Oregon would be required to cover abortions and other reproductive services at no cost to the patient regardless of income, citizenship status or gender identity under a measure approved Wednesday by lawmakers.

Oregon already has some of the most liberal abortion laws in the U.S., leaving out otherwise common requirements for waiting periods or spending limits on taxpayer funds.

The measure, which does offer some religious-based exemptions, comes as the federal government and other states are seeking restrictions on abortion services. | More…

Balsams Developer May Submit Plan to Board at July Meeting

“We’ve been very busy since the first of the year furthering plans for Lake Gloriette House, the relocation of Spur Road, the Great Lawn and so on,” Ed Brisson, of Dixville Capital LLC, told the planning board. “It is a fairly large permit around the lake area.”

Indian American student was called a “sand ni****” on Tinder

The Illinois-based Northwestern University is looking into an incident in which a sophomore from its Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences appeared to send a racial slur Tinder message to an Indian American Dartmouth College student last week.

Brendan Amos, who matched with Indian American Anjali on Tinder, on June 18 and, the incident came out when her friend Devon Kurtz, who is also a Dartmouth College, tweeted about it with a screenshot of the conversation. | More…
