Major Newspapers Ignore or Downplay Imran Awan-Wasserman Schultz Scandal

It’s not just the TV networks that are ignoring or downplaying the Imran Awan-Debbie Wasserman Schultz scandal. The nation’s newspapers are barely getting their feet wet. A quick Nexis search shows The New York Times and the Los Angeles Times have yet to report it, while The Washington Post and USA Today just reported smaller stories in Thursday’s papers. The Post offered 429 words on page B-3, and USA Today reported just 323 words on page B-6. At least that was the back page of the B-section and included a photo of Wasserman Schultz.  | More…

Institute to develop transplant organs for injured vets

MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — A bio-research and manufacturing institute that hopes to develop transplant tissues and organs for injured American soldiers and other patients is set to open in New Hampshire.

Police: Mother and son involved in murder-for-hire plot

Police in New Hampshire have arrested a mother and son they say were involved in a murder-for-hire plot.

An 83-year-old woman and her 63-year-old son, both of Plainfield, were arrested Thursday. State police say they have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder, solicitation to commit murder and attempt to commit murder. | More…

Justice Department Changes Obama Policy On Job Protections For Homosexuals

Under the Obama administration the Justice Department and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission had declared that sexual orientation and “gender orientation” were protected classes under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act. This led to the federal government suing North Carolina over its law requiring people to use a sex appropriate bathroom. Keene City Council to Vote on Bringing Pumpkin Festival Back to Downtown

The Keene City Council will soon decide whether to approve the return of the Pumpkin Festival. At its peak, the festival drew tens of thousands of people to Keene and set world records for the most lit Jack o’ lanterns in one place. But the event was canceled after riots in 2014.

Roy Stewart described as a fighter for Bedford taxpayers

BEDFORD — Friends and family gathered on Wednesday to pay their respects to a Bedford man described by those who knew him best as the town’s fiscal watchdog.

Roy H. Stewart, one of the founders and the former president of the Bedford Taxpayers Association, was laid to rest at the Bedford Town Cemetery. He died earlier this year at the age of 88.

“He was very well known in town for his involvement with the Bedford Taxpayers Association,” said Dawn Boufford, executive assistant to the town manager. | More…

ICE chief wants to slap smuggling charges on leaders of sanctuary cities

The country’s top immigration enforcement officer says he is looking into charging sanctuary city leaders with violating federal anti-smuggling laws because he is fed up with local officials putting their communities and his officers at risk by releasing illegal immigrants from jail.
