Officials at the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services said they are seeing an increase of dangerous levels of cyanobacteria in freshwater. Officials said the bacteria is always in lakes and ponds but usually at safe levels. It’s not clear what caused the spike.
“Through a variety of factors, it can cause a bloom. If the water looks scummy or there’s really blue-green in the water we recommend you just stay out of the water,” DES spokesperson Jim Martin said. | More…
