I was over at Monster.com and no matter how hard I tried I could not find a job or occupation whose benefits included extra payroll deductions to help fund the Federal Government. Can you imagine? There are no businesses looking for people who want more of their salary to go to the Feds. There are no career objectives for “make government bigger.” Not one. And wage growth potential; not one note, not one word that guarantees that any scheduled salary increases–regardless of size–can simply be forwarded directly to the IRS. Isn’t that what we go to work for?
To hear Obama and the Democrats talk, you’d think that’s all Americans want anymore. The Democrats are not shy about letting all the existing tax cuts expire. They are talking proud about taxing everyone and everything more. More taxes on business, more taxes on profits, more taxes on rich people. They want to tax our energy coming in and going out. They want us to work hard. Obama is going to “demand that we work hard,” presumably so his party can tax us more. How else are they going to pay for all those programs and subsidies and what not? All to benefit the middle class. That’s their tag line these days.
Of course what they won’t tell you is that all those taxes will make everything the middle class works so hard to have much more expensive. Businesses have to stay in business if we are to have any jobs at all, so things will be getting more expensive. And there will be less of those jobs middle class people need to pay those rising prices because jobs are created by businesses with profits, and yes, from money rich people invest in business. If the federal government takes all that extra money–essentially forcing them to invest it in the Federal government instead of private enterprise–they won’t have any left for new jobs, new investment, or to reward existing employees for their labors. Oh, well. And there isn’t much hope you’ll be getting out of the middle class either. There is no incentive to get richer if all you’re doing is giving whatever you worked harder for to the Government.
It might not say so on your pay check, but by the time you finish spending what’s left we’re all working for the government.
Is that what you really go to work for? Was that your career goal? To make the government bigger? Put it on the top of your resume under Objectives: “Fewer jobs, less money, more government.”
If we let the Democrats get more control, like they have in New Hampshire, and there is no one–and I mean no one to stop them–that’s exactly where we are headed. Congratulation’s on your new job.
