Examining the RINO virus.

Two things are immediately apparent on the road to Change ™; why democrats are convinced The Rich® don’t pay taxes, (Obama’s elitist left wing brain trust is overflowing with people who don’t pay their taxes), and why Republicans have been beaten like a bunch of two-dollar whores in the past two elections; the difference between a donkey and an ass is what exactly?  It’s called the RINO virus.

The RINO virus originates in Washington DC, the bulk of whose population is employed almost entirely at the expense of the taxpayer.  It filters through the left-wing big government self-interest of low level bureaucrats, and along the endless stream of Georgetown mixers where the anti-bodies of conservative justices have been breaking down for years.  Those exposed often find it feeds on left-wing media propaganda, until it mutates into something like compassionate conservatism which affects otherwise well-meaning Republicans outside Washington by increasing their susceptibility to the  emotional pleas that government exists not just to protect the interests of men, but to help define and advance those interests for them with big expensive mandates from Washington.

And so it goes.

Once an infected Republican crosses the streams of small government conservatism with big government liberalism, their value as a cornerstone of the two party system begins to deteriorate; RINO virus is politically terminal.  Real republicans won’t stand for it, and democrats can’t really trust it.  So once they have a turn-coat it is only a matter of time before they are replaced by a more suitable democrat (even a conservative democrat by their own standards) who is not susceptible to remission—where their service as an emotional partisan puppet to their big government liberal masters and the compliant media, can be guaranteed.

The RINO when confronted with their demise will find it difficult to backtrack toward conservatism.  So their survival as a voice for “reason” and bi-partisanship manifests itself wherever there is room for another boil on the democrat ass of government.  They may turn up as a regular guest on CNN to be only mildly disagreeable when it comes to selling the networks liberal bias and left wing talking points to the masses.  They may join a think tank whose name includes the words America or Truth, selling the fantastical pseudo-ideology of the middle.  And in some cases they even abandon their post to await appointment to the Politburo of the most left wing president in American History.

Whatever the destination, the infection remains.  RINO’s are forever obsessed with their contribution to something that doesn’t even exist.  Bi-partisanship, the empty calories on which they feed, is really liberal thought-speech.  It is when a republican is convinced of the emotional value of accepting and supporting the democrat position on an issue for the good of something ephemeral like “progress,” or “change,” or “the people,” when odds are it only helps democrats or their constituents.  They forget or ignore that it was the moral obligation of democrats to dissent as the minority but now that they are in charge, it’s ok to insist on bipartisanship.

But the RINO virus forces them to persist as essential, willing, complicit pawns, providing cover for this illusion, never seeing the train that bears down on them.   They are equivalent to the animals on Manor Farm who watch the pigs through the windows of the farmers house as thy try on the farmers clothes and walk on two legs; as they promise equality, (or how about transparency or ethics or bi-partisanship), for some animals more than others.

I’m not convinced there is a cure, but I know how to determine who has the disease.

To a real Republican the Bill of Rights is not the Cliffs-notes of un-enumerated restrictions whose broader meaning includes unabridged expressions of power waiting to be unearthed by some manufactured social crisis that always expands the reach of government.

Republicans should always defend the simplicity of the constitution because it is difficult to know what freedom is if you let the people you appoint to guard it, turn it into a moving target.

Republicans stand for small government, personal responsibility, national defense and the rights of citizens to have more say in the decision making process than the government they elect, and as such will try at every opportunity to prevent the federal government from seizing it from them.

Real republicans are needed now more than ever.  Our federalist republic is moving closer to the kind of mob rule that is evoked by the pure democracy President Obama contrives as justification for his impatience at the deliberative process of representative government.  “I won.”  “We won.”  He communicates this arrogant sense of entitlement to us based on one electoral victory, and summons the need for his definition of bi-partisanship because he requires it of us to advance his own agenda.  His bi-partisan agenda is his agenda, and failing to fall into line will not be tolerated.  Resistance is futile.

Well I’m sorry Mr. Obama.  Government is not a victory won.  It is an opportunity gained, and a temporary one at that.  Even you must realize that four or eight years from now, your grand vision for the people can be summarily undone by the same people, for the same people, and that every day between now and then, will be an exercise in representative democracy, where the people who granted you this temporary authority will be watching your every move, and questioning your every step. (Or so we can hope)

As for those infected with the RINO virus, well, we have a cure for those of them that are inadequately skilled to be moderate pundits, or members of the left-wing bureaucracy.  It’s called civilian life.  And it’s coming for them.
