A Gun Running Message In a Bottle

Guns!Do you recall back when the democrat leadership and the Obama administration were priming the media pump with stories about American guns ending up in the hands of Mexican Warlords?

Little did we know then that those remarks were probably based on their knowledge of project Gunrunner–the ATF’s program of selling guns to Mexican Warlords.

ATF and Holder, and all the rest of the cranks, insist it was to track the guns to the bad guys.  But given the way democrats feel about gun rights you have to wonder if they had other motives.  “Finding” American guns in the hands of drug cartels plays right into their rhetoric.

Being who they are, that would demand that they short-stroke this ‘discovery” into expanding gun control legislation, and I’m not convinced that this was not a convenient side effect if not the entire point of the program
.
So how about we round up all those ‘democrats’ and administration officials who were pimping the scandal, and see what they have to say now about what they knew and when.  They will deny knowledge, of course, which will either make them look like clueless rubes or just put them on the record so they can contradict themselves later.

Right To Work Override

If Exxon Mobil demanded $50.00 per month from all its employees, every month, to pay for benefits and it’s political action agenda, the left would sh** kittens, protest, threaten, attack, invade, and engage in a well funded, partisan series of lawsuits until the company was forbidden from using that money for any political activity.

Tell me I’m wrong democrat and union hypocrites. Except for the kittens of course, I am 100% right.  (The kittens were a rhetorical device; you’d actually be spitting while you hurled hateful remarks.)

Unions are a big business and they extort money for their political agenda.  They do not care what you think or if you object.  They demand it.  They protest in favor of their ability to continue to do it.  They insist that taxpayers finance it in Public unions then expect it to be tax deductible for their members to boot.  And no one should be allowed to opt out of paying fealty for their political agenda.  If you try to suggest that is as unjust as my Exxon example, they threaten and intimidate you and accuse you of wanting to hurt workers families.
Hypocrites!

So here’s the deal.  Right to work removes the union mandate that forces you to pay dues.  It allows you to refuse to participate in whatever it is the Union is selling.  You get a choice and you don’t have to give up a job to make that choice.   The union should also be under no obligation to offer anything to you under those terms if you opt out.  That’s choice.

So you might want to ask why the unions wanted to remove any protective language that would ensure they did not have to cover or represent people who did not pay dues. Why would they do that? They want to be able to demand payment of their tax on every worker.

They don’t want workers rights.  They never did.  They want fealty and tribute.

So Right to Work doesn’t destroy unions nor does it hurt workers, it simply removes dues extortion–the mandated Union tax on your income for their agenda. But with Right to Work, if you want to continue pay tribute, you still can.  But not if the Right to work veto is not overridden. That would allow the selective extortion by Union bosses to continue.

Override the Lynch Veto.  Give workers real rights.

Government To Mandate PLAN Chip In Your Cell Phone

Thinking about upgrading your cell equipment?  Do it now.  Droid
Starting in 2012, those phones will have to have an embedded PLAN chip to allow access to local, state, and federal governments to text you about emergency situations, such as Amber Alerts for missing children. Consumers will be able to choose to opt out of all but “presidential” messages but will have to contact their cell-phone providers to do so.
…Hot Air reports, from an article my Mary Katherine Ham at the Daily Caller, that the government wants to make sure they can reach out an touch you…in the event of an..uh….umm….emergency. Yeah!  I guess this is another one of those rights you’ve got we didn’t know about.  The right to have no choice about the government inserting technology into your stuff so you can be chatted up by DHS or the Oval Office.  (Sounds like workers rights which is actually the mandatory right of unions to charge you for having a job)  And just how long before the “opt out” option is opted out? When can we expect the EPA, the FCC, and how about NLRB, pushing out propaganda disguised as important updates?

So your President wont have to worry about wasting a crisis.  He can just create them as needed, and text them right to your cell phone.  “Be afraid. Be very afraid.”
To quote Ms Ham, “We shudder to think of the mission creep.”

And mission creep can’t just refer to the messages sent and the decline in opt out options. (Can you say ‘Two minute hate?’)  It must also mean that we will need a federal funded program to  ensure that all ‘Americans’ have this necessary technology–wouldn’t want to leave anyone out just because they can’t afford the portable propaganda phone on their own.
So all you cell-phone makers, the rent seeking line starts at the Obama campaign 2012 donation line.  Give long and deep, and maybe you can get that “Preferred Provider” status and all the mandatory sales that will go with it.

Yeah, more Government by the elected, for the elected.  Ain’t it great?

Stephen Colbert’s Campaign Finance Lesson

Michelle Malkin has a great post on one of the Left’s premier water carrier’s, Stephen Colbert, on one of their signature hypocrisies–corporate campaign finance reform.
Colbert set out to create a PAC so he could accumulate gobs of cash to prove a point about the abuses of campaign finance reform, only to discover just how hard it is to do that. From the Wall Street Journal, quoting Colbert
Why does it get so complicated to do this? I mean, this is page after page of legalese,” Mr. Colbert lamented. “All I’m trying to do is affect the 2012 election. It’s not like I’m trying to install iTunes.”

Well, that’s pretty much what the nonprofit group Citizens United said to the Supreme Court in the case that Mr. Colbert is trying so hard to lampoon.

Campaign-finance laws are so complicated that few can navigate them successfully and speak during elections—which is what the First Amendment is supposed to protect. As the Supreme Court noted in Citizens United, federal laws have created “71 distinct entities” that “are subject to different rules for 33 different types of political speech.” The FEC has adopted 568 pages of regulations and thousands of pages of explanations and opinions on what the laws mean. “Legalese” doesn’t begin to describe this mess.

Emphasis mine.  What Stephen also does not realize, perhaps, is that state rules make it even harder in some cases, for regular people to be politically active on their own without running afoul of speech limiting regulations.  And most of us do not have Mr. Colbert’s resources.

He has had to hire powerful lawyers to wade into the regulations in search of a way to get a waiver or exemption.  But that’s not happening.  WSJ again..
.
How’s that for a punch line? Rich and successful television personality needs powerful corporate lawyers to convince the FEC to allow him to continue making fun of the Supreme Court. Hilarious.

This is Democrat party talking points meet reality.  One wonders if he will next take on the hypocrisy of foreign contributors and even challenge Mr. Obama’s appearance on impropriety on the matter? I’m guessing not.  Colbert thought he had an easy gag he could milk for 18 months, heading into the 2012 election.  He’s probably not in this to be an investigative reporter. though I’d applaud any honest look at either issue on his part.

So welcome to the real world where democrats really do exaggerate (lie) to impede political speech they object to and things are never what the party hacks make them out to be.

Is John Edwards a Scumbag?

It should be a rhetorical question but after Tweeting John Edwards latest declaration of Ass-hattedness to Twitter and Facebook about an alleged John Edwards sex tape, the question was asked jokingly:
Is John Edwards and alleged Scumbag or is it confirmed he is a Scumbag. Don’t want you to cross any legal lines.”
Great question? When does an ambulance chasing trial lawyer turned professional lying-cheat, rat-bastard, who had an affair on his cancer-stricken wife and made a sex tape with his videographer who had his love child, cross the line to scumbag?

That’s a hard question to answer when he started on the other side of the line; but is allowing is mistress to create a sex tape she never destroyed her fault or is it his, and what about his reaction?

I can’t give an unbiased answer.  I think he always was a scum bag.  So I figured I’d give some of the folks who were willing to ignore the fact that he was an ambulance chasing trial lawyer turned professional lying-cheat, rat-bastard, and supported his goal to to be President, an opportunity to answer the question for us.  To that end I have included an October 2007 list of Graniteroots town chairs for Edwards I found over at NH Insider.   If anyone can tell us when or if he has crossed the line to ‘scumbag’ they can.

Or we can ask Tim Horrigan, also an Edwards fan at least in Jan of 2008, who is the one Democrat I know of most likely to read this post.

So find a name and take a survey.  Let us know if Edwards is officially a scumbag across the ideological spectrum or…will the democrats now elevate him to Clintonesque stature?  Sex scandal, perjury, a southern lilt, lying dirt-bag; that’s presidential material for left wingers.  This could be a tough one.

New Hampshire Got Jobs!?

Got Hobs? How about some jobs?  New Hampshire is reporting an April unemployment rate of 4.9%.  I don’t have the exact numbers but using previous months figures as a guide this should be the result of both another slight increase in workforce population and a shift from the unemployed column to the employed column.   This is unlike last year when the initial “improvement” we saw was actually the result of workforce decline–people had stopped looking or receiving benefits and dropped out of the equation.

This is encouraging given the national employment numbers; we are also still best of breed in the North East, though Vermont is not too far behind us.  But the bigger news id that John Lynch was so excited he blamed low taxes.

“The reason New Hampshire is outperforming virtually every other state is because was have a successful economic strategy in place. New Hampshire is one of the most business-friendly states in the nation, with the lowest state taxes, and we must continue to follow the principles of our strategy if we are to continue moving New Hampshire forward.

Former Democrat house Speaker Terie “Billion Dollar Deficit” Norelli must have puked in her mouth when she read that.  Low taxes? She just spent (literally) the past four years digging us into a billion dollar deficit so democrats would have an excuse to raise taxes.  The damn voters screwed that up by showing the tax and spenders the door, though for how long is anyone’s guess.  People who have jobs have short memories.

But for now we have the lefts only toe hold on power–small toe that it is–announcing that low taxes stimulate job growth.  Maybe Governor Lynch forgot but we watched him sign off on dozens of taxes including business abuse taxes like the Tent, and LLC tax to name just two.

Did he forget that the Republicans were the ones trying to keep the taxes low all along?

That’s something we can never get tired of hearing.  Republicans are for low taxes.  Low state taxes help create more jobs. There.  It’s etched in Granite.  Thanks Governor Lynch.  We agree. Now how about you get with the program?

Potato As Gateway Drug…?

Potato as Gateway Drug?People who make their living as a result of the potato are marketing the fabulous spud as the kid friendly vegetable that can lead kids to…more vegetables.  Yes, this starchy, tuberous gem is a gateway vegetable. And the campaign to save the potato is a response to new Federal guidelines that could banish the white potato from government funded school lunch programs.

Potato racism?

That’s right, white potatoes are evil and your Nanny State government is here to right all wrongs.  Sweet Potato–not so bad.

My take?  Just one more reason to break up the government monopoly on education.  If you are not on the dole it’s that much harder for them to mess with you.  And these are potatoes we’re talking about here.  Potatoes!

H/T ALLAHPUNDIT at Hot Air has bushels of Potato related links

Hillsborough 4 – You have Special Election Today

If you live in Hillsborough district 4 and you are reading this it means that you are probably not on your way to vote in your special election.  Considering how much democrats would like to win a seat don’t you think you should get off your GOP backside and go vote for Peter Kucmas?

If you don’t you might get stuck with a Blue Hampshire Wing nut for a representative.

Lyndeborogh, New Boston, Wilton, Temple, Mont Vernon–that’s you.

The Missiles of Venezuela

missile.jpgOriginally reported last November by Germany’s Die Welt, but just recently resurrected by The Drudge Report from the Jerusalem Post, Iran–the Islamic regime that has been waging war on the United States since 1979–is building intermediate range missile launch pads in Venezuela.

Yes, the same Iran that prior to 2005 traded nothing with Hugo Chavez but which has since increased its trade with the socialist nut job to the tune of 40 billion.  There is good reason to speculate that this has or will include nuclear technology.  His goal being to expand control in the region by intimidating neighbors, I’m sorry–by offering mob style “protection” from the evil Americans.

So we’d have an America hating socialist nut job with intermediate range Iranian missiles and a working relationship with a country (Iran) that the current administration has suggested is going to get nuclear weapons anyway?  Venezuela is already suspected of having Hezbollah training camps in its jungles.  The Iranian Military is hanging with the Chavez.  This presents no risk?  Or maybe the economy isn’t the only thing Obama plans to screw up while in office?

Note to the White House.  Israel will not be bombing our problems away in Venezuela.  And I’m certain they have no expectation that we’ll back them up with anything other than wordy statements when they do what has to be done to survive. So don;t count on them to help you out here.

So the next question; can :Obama the bold, courageous, and decisive” actually be any of those things when it comes to the Missiles of Venezuela?  Can the guy who accepts books from the same dictator who is prepared to represent a significant risk to American interests in the hemisphere–including interests in America, step up and take them out before they are operational?  Or does the major troublemaker and regional king maker in Venezuela have a right to intermediate range weapons capable of carrying nuclear warheads, and the ongoing training and assistance of Iran’s Qods force?

From the Jerusalem Post

Iran is building intermediate- range missile launch pads on the Paraguaná Peninsula, and engineers from a construction firm – Khatam al-Anbia – owned by the Revolutionary Guards visited Paraguaná in February. Amir al-Hadschisadeh, the head of the Guard’s Air Force, participated in the visit, according to the report. Die Welt cited information from “Western security insiders.”

The rocket bases are to include measures to prevent air attacks on Venezuela as well as commando and control stations.

The Iranian military involvement in the project extends to bunker, barracks and watch tower construction. Twenty-meter deep rocket silos are planned. The cost of the Venezuelan military project is being paid for with Iranian oil revenue. The Iranians paid in cash for the preliminary phase of the project and, the total cost is expected to amount to “dozens of millions” of dollars, Die Welt wrote.

The Paraguaná Peninsula is on the coast of Venezuela and is roughly 120 kilometers from America’s main South American partner, Columbia.

According to Die Welt, the clandestine agreement between Venezuela and Iran would mean the Chavez government would fire rocket at Iran’s enemies should the Islamic Republic face military strikes.

If you think you are about to have some sleepless nights, ask yourself how our “allies” (like Columbia) feel knowing who sits in the White House?  They can’t be too happy about this development, nor should they be.  This is not exactly a “lead from behind” scenario, but that’s the kind of B-Team government we’ve got.  A nation sworn to destroy the world to bring the return of the 12th Imam can be trusted with nukes about as much as democrats can be trusted with the economy and national security.  So Venezuela has nothing to fear from Obama; heck, maybe they can even get a few billion to help things along.

NH Senate Should BEG Our forgiveness on RGGI

Fools!God has a sense of humor.  Just days after Republican State Senators in New Hampshire bent over backwards to the green lobby (and refused to leave RGGI) a major green lobby advocate (George Monbiot) announced that none of their ideas work. (Ideas like cap and trade for example.)  Now, just days after that, a highly credentialed European scientist who was on the Anthropogenic Global Warming Government money “Gravy Train” has a message to those who continue to support CO2 mitigation of any kind, and in particular the failed variety like RGGI…

..to those who still believe the planet is in danger from our carbon dioxide emissions: Sorry, but you’ve been had. Yes, carbon dioxide is a cause of global warming, but it’s so minor it’s not worth doing much about.

So who is David Evans?  Here’s his bio from the article.
David Evans consulted full-time for the Australian Greenhouse Office (now the Department of Climate Change) from 1999 to 2005, and part-time 2008 to 2010, modelling Australia’s carbon in plants, debris, mulch, soils, and forestry and agricultural products. He is a mathematician and engineer, with six university degrees, including a PhD from Stanford University in electrical engineering.
Is this speaking truth to power?
The whole idea that carbon dioxide is the main cause of the recent global warming is based on a guess that was proved false by empirical evidence during the 1990s. But the gravy train was too big, with too many jobs, industries, trading profits, political careers, and the possibility of world government and total control riding on the outcome. So rather than admit they were wrong, the governments, and their tame climate scientists, now outrageously maintain the fiction that carbon dioxide is a dangerous pollutant.
Weather balloons had been measuring the atmosphere since the 1960s, many thousands of them every year. The climate models all predict that as the planet warms, a hot spot of moist air will develop over the tropics about 10 kilometres up, as the layer of moist air expands upwards into the cool dry air above. During the warming of the late 1970s, ’80s and ’90s, the weather balloons found no hot spot. None at all. Not even a small one. This evidence proves that the climate models are fundamentally flawed, that they greatly overestimate the temperature increases due to carbon dioxide.

This evidence first became clear around the mid-1990s.

At this point, official “climate science” stopped being a science. … But official climate science ignored the crucial weather balloon evidence, and other subsequent evidence that backs it up, and instead clung to their carbon dioxide theory — that just happens to keep them in well-paying jobs with lavish research grants, and gives great political power to their government masters.
Senators Bragdon and Lambert, you are most responsible–being the most outspoken rubes in the lot.  I (and others) asked you to educate your constituents with the truth but instead you chose to believe the lies and continue your residence in the alarmist Potemkin village.
There are now several independent pieces of evidence showing that the earth responds to the warming due to extra carbon dioxide by dampening the warming. Every long-lived natural system behaves this way, counteracting any disturbance. Otherwise the system would be unstable. The climate system is no exception, and now we can prove it.
Even if we stopped emitting all carbon dioxide tomorrow, completely shut up shop and went back to the Stone Age, according to the official government climate models it would be cooler in 2050 by about 0.015 degrees. But their models exaggerate 10-fold — in fact our sacrifices would make the planet in 2050 a mere 0.0015 degrees cooler!
There is plenty more there to  chew on and by all means please do.  Not just because it confirms the obvious but it will aggravate our progressive friends on both sides who must now explain away another expert from inside the system they continue to support blindly.

And then there’s this.  The stupid annoying bloggers were right again.  They hate that.  So hate this as well since it comes from closer to home; Richard Lindzen (here) the Alfred P. Sloan Professor of Meteorology at MIT.  And there’s more.

And it all leads up to an unpleasant conclusion.  The earth is more than capable of dealing with it, and always has.  That’s no excuse to avoid being a responsible husband of your world or a suitable conservationist but why would it justify the continuation of the fraud and the unpredictable tax that goes with it?  RGGI can’t accomplish any of its goals because they are meaningless. I just hope none of these Republican State senators took a pledge against broad based taxes, because they just voted to keep the tax on everything.  You can’t get much broader than that.
